  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Help choosing a good Monitor

I'm also interested in getting a few names of good SDI monitor...
But would anyone have a cheaper suggestion? More in the $2K range ???

I love this monitor, the Eizo CG 232W, it's pricey, but so accurate. Can be used on set and also in edit for color. Calibrate it with an Eye One Pro, and you see true color. It has 3D LUT, 10 bit color display, displays more than 1 billion colors.

I demo'd the EIZO on Saturday, connected to the RED, shooting beauty with a Briese 220 Focus HMI, and the skin tones were beautiful, it was spot on. So good, I could accurately evaluate exposure off the monitor.

I've been using Eizo's for over 10 years (CG 211's) with still photography, and they are as accurate as they come.

Flanders Scientific

I am looking into the Flanders Scientific 17" monitor, about $500 cheaper than the panasonic and more of a contrast ratio...

Anyone used it yet?

I didn't find the price of this monitor... How much is it?
Also, can you tell us how it behaves in a bright environment (when shooting outdoor) ? Compared to the panny ones?

More info on the Eizo

I just updated my blog, http://reddigitalmotionandstill.blogspot.com/

I spoke with the Eizo rep Thomas Gadbois, his email is thomas.gadbois@eizo.com.

Retail is $12,500, and they can be purchased from Abel Cine, CMP, and also Mac Hollywood.

I have no idea why things cost so much, but I do know, it's the most accurate monitor I have personally worked with.

Also check the TVlogic range, we use the smaller units and they are very good and relativly inexpensive.

I use the Marshall V-R171-IMD-HDSDI 17".
Great picture, light and functional.
Happy with it.
Bought 4 for edit, 1 field monitor.
Thinking getting 6 more.

Hey Vigna,

I'm curious to know what monitor you ended up picking.... ?

Also, can someone tell me if the Marshall V-R171-IMD-HDSDI 17" can be powered with batteries?? If so, what kind?

We have both the 17" and 26" Panasonics in-house if you want to stop by and check them out.

Hooking up a MacBook Pro and RED Rocket to a 26" is a fun experience:

Hi all,
Depending on Luis Ismael's recommendation we have decided to purchase the Marshall V-R171-IMD-HDSDI 17" LCD Monitor for Field monitoring but the only thing that's bothering is the Single HD-SDI input. Is there anyone else using the aforesaid monitor? Reviews and suggestions are highly appreciated.

If you have any more alternate options for HD-SDI Field monitors, please suggest us the same. Thank you once again.
