  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet

The details on Scarlet's systems are forthcoming, as features will evolve over the next year. We had great input at NAB and Scarlet will reflect much of what we heard on the show floor. We are a company that listens and strives to make what the customer wants. The only ones disappointed will be our competitors.

This thread should probably be turned into a sticky ASAP.

"...built in 8X T2.8 Zoom lens that maintains speed through the zoom..."

Extremely good news!

Big Jon, we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of your new baby. Doesn’t it take only 9 months for babies to be born?

My favorite part about scarlet is the fact that it is going to be so popular and wide reaching that to ignore the workflow and support for R3D is going to be a bad move for most editing/effects apps. My guess is it will make Apple up their game in supporting the red(ie. no more dodgy qt updates & perfecting workflow) and then the rest will have to follow suit.

Believe me they will. I am sure they are working at it as we speak. They have a year to comply or be left behind....

Yes, Scarlet will be a great offering. Like I said somewhere else. I had this same feeling when I bought my DVX100A. I wasn't disappointed. And, it has served me well. I know that this camera will also serve me well while I continue to build my business. I definitely am striving to get to Epic too.

Jon, is Red Digital working with third-party accessory makers to make for a big splash when the camera debuts?

This is great news. I hope some quality partnerships can be forged for Scarlet. I know the lens adaptor folks are probably part of that number. They were a major part of the success of the DVX support.

Question. I not a lens expert. But, does Scarlet measure by megapixels?

great news, looking forward to more exciting announcements. I think by the time
im done the propaganda for scarlet, i'll probably have 33 people buying it. Great job Jim and the Red team.

info

info

so this is something i plan on getting as soon as its available... but when are we going to get a little more info? any sort of time frame for information being released would be great, i know you said more will develop over the next year, but maybe we could get a little more info sooner rather than later?! i must sound very impatient with NAB ending just a few days ago; but my friend and i are just very excited with the release of Scarlet.

My phone hasn't stopped ringing since NAB :)

Dear Jon,

is there some sort of "iPhone SDK - like" developer program, especially for those of us who did not make it to NAB this year? If so - how (and where) do we apply?

We do a lot of custom R&D and we already have few ides for number of accessories and custom SW, but for obvious reason we can't discuss this here...

Any info would be greatly appreciated...

Cheers and once again - congrats on Scarlet! Wish You the best during the pregnancy - just stay away from cigarettes, alcohol and heavy drugs and listen to lots of classical music... :innocent:

Peter

Heh heh... Thanks, Peter. I can't take credit for coining that phrase, but I sure like using it. :)

I'll be one stupidly happy camper if I can dump the Scarlet files into an XP operating system, and have them sucked up into an Adobe product.

And what about the international crowd getting their hands on the best American export since the Internet? ;-)

There will be no reservation system for Scarlet; the day it is introduced is the day you can buy yours. Planned introduction is early 2009.

I hoped for a reservation list ....I am definately going to buy a scarlet!
