  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HEDGE - DATA TRANSFER SOFTWARE - GROUP BUY

Just tried the link, seems to have gone. Thought I'd just slipped through.

Thanks Paul, nice and easy to use app! Let's see it in a real world...

That's it folks! Thanks everyone and especially Justin Lovell for reaching out to us about this.

Kyle: it's on our todo (like a lot of things I must add) and planned for later this year.

Everyone that +1'd but didn't get that you should've placed an order: DM me.

Hello,

I've one question. Why does the destination drive still run (read) at full speed even after the backup is done and the Hedge report created?

Thanks

Pat

It's what we call Checkpoint, basically a destination integrity check. It crossreferences all destinations, comparing all kinds of attributes and recalculating hashes. If issues are found they are repaired on the spot using the source if available, and the other destinations. We're currently working adding on the much requested source integrity to it, a redundant second read of the source to detect card reader errors. When that's finished we'll make Checkpoint available through the Preferences for you to fine-tune.

But does that mean that we should let the work been done in background even if Hedge tell us "... transfers are completed"?

Could it be an option? "do you want also to perform Checkpoint after the transfer is finished?"

No, it's a redundant process. You can quit Hedge anytime you like, Hedge automatically handles the wrap-up.

It will be, yes.

Hey everyone, the Windows pre-order will be closing this week. If you want beta access (and a 50% discount) make sure to get one before Friday > hedgeformac.com/windows

Has anyone else been experiencing a negative GB usage indicator for your REDmags, and the transfers say it'll take well over 59 million hours (literally, not figuratively!)?

I noticed this recently, and it's only been with my UDF formatted cards that I record solely pro-res 2K and 4K to - no R3Ds.

Im in if there would be another groupbuy. =)

Did anyone else get the "renew now for continued free updates" notice?

I was under the impression this was a one-time purchase - did anyone else think this as well with the GB?

I just got that note too. I'm really confused. I didn't purchase, and I am going to contact them. From my understanding it was a one-time purchase as well.

Hi everyone,

Hedge has always been a perpetual license - but free updates are not perpetual. Each license comes with a year of updates, and you're free to renew or not. We prefer you only renew if you think we've added something that's useful to you.

We have a much faster product cycle than most apps, as we don't do a major release every 18 months or so. We release new features about 6 times a year, with the third one of this year (source verification) coming up next week. For those of you that bought Hedge in the GB, that should fall well into the first year.

Ah ok - got it! And renewed! Thank you for your continued hard work and a great little tool! :D

If there are any questions, I'm right here. We are from Amsterdam so replies might not be in real time due to the timezone but I'll try :)

Hi Paul,

I have some questions about Hedge.

Functionally how does it compare to Shotput pro?

Will it do transcodes?

Will it also handle LOT6 ?

Thanks,

Curtis
