FAQ v001 on ARROW PLUS

WHAT IS ARROW PLUS?
Paralinx ARROW PLUS is an expansion of the popular PARALINX ARROW wireless HD Transmitter and Receiver system for Motion Picture and Video Production. Arrow PLUS allows the user the ability to have the same great benefits of the Arrow - uncompressed wireless HD with an up to 328 feet/100 meters line of sight range between transmitter and receiver, using a professional Grade Baseband transmission chipset that works in the unlicensed 5.1-5.8ghz Range, with an AES128 bit encrypted signature, but adds the ability to have up to 4 receivers simultaneously displaying the image from One Camera.
This gives the user the ability to share picture with a Director, Camera Assistant, DP, or Client without the hassle of setting up redistribution, as long as the Camera operator has the Arrow PLUS transmitter, and the additional number of Arrow PLUS receivers (up to 4 at one time). All of this is available at an unprecedented price point, with incomparable customer service and support.

I have an Original Paralinx ARROW - how do I upgrade to have multiple receivers?

At Paralinx we are committed to continually giving our customers the best we have to offer them in a fair and balanced manner. Because of this we have decided to offer an original Arrow 1:1 to Arrow PLUS 1:4 system during the month of January 2013. This is done by simply pre-paying for the number of additional receivers you would like to use with your Upgraded Arrow PLUS system

How do I get a reservation for an ARROW PLUS upgrade from my existing ARROW 1:1 Original System?

You can follow the link to our shopping cart via www.paralinx.net, or go directly to our shopping cart via http://paralinx.bigcartel.com or http://webstore.paralinx.net.
Simply select the number of ADDITIONAL receivers you would like to add on to your existing 1:1 set. When the units are ready for shipment we will inform you and request you to send your old units in for evaluation. After we test to make sure they are in working order and free from damage we will send out a BRAND NEW ARROW PLUS TRANSMITTER A Brand new ARROW PLUS RECEIVER and the ADDITIONAL NUMBER OF ARROW PLUS RECEIVERS YOU HAVE REQUESTED.

Can I upgrade my ARROW 1:1 to an ARROW plus with Just 1 transmitter and 1 Receiver?

No - you still get the same great performance from your ARROW 1:1 as you always have with an Arrow PLUS in 1:1 configuration, however this trade in option is reserved for people seeking to take advantage of additional Receivers from one source which is what ARROW Plus is all about.

What If I want to buy a 1:1 System now and upgrade later?

Anyone who buys an original Arrow 1:1 during the Month of January will be allowed to upgrade if they make a deposit for Arrow Plus additional Receivers in January 2013. This will save you some money if you want to get on the train now instead of waiting, and maintains the original Value of the ARROW 1:1 system for those who only need 1:1 transmission capability now.

The upgrade special is really valid for the month of January 2013 Only as it represents a SPECIAL discount option for our loyal existing customers.

Why can't I simply add an arrow Plus receiver to my existing Arrow 1:1 System?

We actually had to make physical changes to the silicon chips that run our system in order to maintain a PROTECTED ENCRYPTION SYSTEM for viewing while still allowing the system to multiplex to several receivers at once. If we could have done it with firmware we would have, but it is simply not possible to do that and maintain the standard of ultra low latency, ultra high picture quality, excellent range, and fair pricing that we offer with our systems. This is what led us to offer such an excellent trade-in upgrade option.

How long will I have to wait after placing my deposit for the additional receivers before Paralinx begins shipping the upgrades?

We will begin shipping Upgrade systems on January 30th, 2013. Please keep in mind we will need to evaluate your existing system to make sure that it has not been physically damaged prior to shipping your upgrade. There will not be a delay past January 30th, 2013 for us to BEGIN shipping units, however there is no way of accounting for demand as of yet - and the best way to get on board is to make your reservation by making a deposit as soon as you can.

Are you locked to the amount of receivers you order? Can I upgrade my Arrow to 2 receivers and then down the road purchase 2 more receivers for that set?

You can add up to 4 receivers total with ARROW plus any time in your ownership, it is simple to link the units and remove the link if you are changing configurations.

When are you going to offer an SDI version of the product?

2013 will be an exciting year for Paralinx, and our customers. One thing we can promise is that no matter what we offer, our existing customers will always have a first crack at the new product so to speak - there is no benefit in waiting for us to roll out a new product, as we have not announced any new product or delivery schedule to speak of, BUT we will always offer a competitive upgrade and exchange option as our customer base wants it. NO ARROW LEFT BEHIND is one of our Mantras, and we believe our customer is just as important as the blood sweat and tears that we have put into making this product a reality. Remember - we are Camera people just like you and we live, breathe, eat, drink, and Dream for cinematography just like you do.

Can I get extra range from the ARROW PLUS?

The ARROW PLUS has the same great general maximum range of 328 feet/100 meters line of sight. Environmental conditions greatly affect the results that you may get, however we have tested ARROW PLUS to have the same great range as the original Arrow 1:1 system.

I want more range.

Don't we all? Paralinx is dreaming up some heavy solutions on how to achieve more range without compromising our FCC certification and the legality of our product. There is no benefit in waiting for a new product if you can make use of our existing product, as generally customers will always have the ability to integrate new tech with the existing tech or trade up to new items competitively.

Paralynx.net only has 'coming soon' on it.

I finally squeezed the trigger on one of these (ordered from Hot Rod) and I just received it today. Wonderful. Love when that happens.

Hey Rob,

you are still covered by the upgrade if you choose to, and actually anyone who purchases in January is.

you actually save money if you are a 1:1 customer or potential arrow plus customer if you buy a 1:1 now and place the deposit.

street price of a 1:1 set of Arrow Plus is around $1349.

let us know If you are in any way dissatisfied by email and we will be able to talk you through what all this means in terms of upgrades and how everyone benefits and no one is hurt by this.

best Regards and thanks for your business!

Thanks Dan. I appreciate that.

Hey Dan,

Hi Patrick,

We are not offering any Refurbished units at this time - I believe that was a mistake on the part of our web team.

Your best bet for a cheap way to get into the Arrow plus is to buy a regular 1:1 set from our dealers now, and place your upgrade reservation.

Any 1:1 set bought from our dealers like Abel Cine, Hot Rod Cameras, CVP and more in the month of January are eligible for the upgrade, and one must simply reserve their upgrade by placing the payment via our webstore for the upgrade.

Hope that helps.

Later we will be offering Refurbished 1:1 with a 30 day warranty, pricing has not yet been determined.

Best Regards,

Dan

HI Dan, great to hear that !
What about your foreign customers (France here), do we have to send the unit back to the US (with all the possible customs issues involved) or will we be able to send it back to the place we ordered it (CVP in the UK for instance) ?
Also, I'm still waiting for CVP to answer my emails regarding how to order the shield and the new cables...

At this time we are only able to process upgrades that are sent directly to us - we are working with the distributor and dealers to see if there is another way to process this, but I would not wait if you plan to upgrade.

Best,

Dan

Thanks Steven! We wouldn't exist without our customers and to be able to give the community something that I had a need for myself as a cinematographer was my main reason for starting this :)

Can you send a signal from an HDMI port on an SDI fed onboard monitor if I was doing a job on an Alexa or a camera without HDMI. Also my 17" Panasonic monitor doesn't have HDMI would the receiver work with a HDMI to DVI adapter.
If I were to get +2 recievers could one of the be for the DPX pro?

I'm certain about the monitor passthrough question. As yes to your DVI to HDMI question.
