Half a Pound.....

[Jarred Land]

We are known for giving you guys more for nothing.. this time we are taking away.

New technology has afforded us the ability to move to a new heatsink that has the same thermal characteristics in a much lighter package.. saving 1/2 a pound on the weight of the EPIC brain.

These new heatsinks will go into all EPIC-X cameras... and EPIC-M customers will have theirs upgraded, for no charge, when they send the cameras in for the mechanical modifications after the EPIC-X program begins.

old vs. new:

[Michael Lindsay]

Interesting for 2d... Massive for 3d!!

[Jarek Zabczynski]

Nice! When I was at RED last week and picked up my first Epic it was a bit heavier than I expected, or than it looks. Very very solid camera though. Not a complaint by any means, just an observation. Obviously I concluded the magic inside these camera has to do with components made from molten meteorite fragments.

[Brook Willard]

Holy crap I want it!!! Knocking half a pound off of a five pound camera is incredible.

[Elsie N]

Jarred, can you tell us what number this new material is on the Periodic Table? (Not 104 is it?)

[Patrick Tresch]

Let's fly those cameras!!!
