Well to many problems on my resolve high end!

Mac 12core (2,93ghz) 12gbram 5 HDD (2tb each) ati5870 BM3d+ Cubix (3 4000nvidia)... Sdi monitor/2 led display

Well first problem was the alexa (apple pro res) don't like 3gpu: result it crash with 3gpu so i have ti set up 2gpu to work with alexa

But today!!! a New Problem

Canon d7 Project importing an EDL to conform and voila it crash, it seem H264 don't like EDL for conforming (however it works with out edl conforming)

But RED works really fine!

Oh no the edl is working fine... some times it let me conform even resolve the conflicts but it crash soon or later... with H264 and edl...

My understanding is that the Canon 7D doesn't have timecode information. Which explains why the EDL is not working. According to this post you will have to conform with AAF instead:

Yes and no.
Yes, there is no proper TC in those H264 files. They all start at the same 00:00:00:00 TC. The easiest way to grade that edited timeline is to render it out whole as one Prores HQ video file and export the EDL. Then just use that file and the EDL to reconstruct the project in the Resolve. There is no need to go back to the original H264, like you'd do with RAW, as you're not loosing any quality by transcoding H264 to ProresHQ. Quite simple really...

Well it was weird cause i transform to apple pro res with media manager on fcp7. And it still crash with the edl...

:(

Thank you Jake... saves a lot of money doing it that way rather than with the $299 AAF plugin for FCP.

Personally, I do not know why people would want to edit with h264 files to begin with, but if they did, no reason to go through that pain all over again while grading:-)

Jake,

Your method in Resolve would rely on scene detection?

Cool! Never thought of using an EDL on a whole clip to split it into scenes. Very handy recommendation. Thanks again.

Hi Javier,

Try 8 bit monitoring and see if your system becomes more stable. Helped for us. We also have 3x4000 cards.

Helge
