What are the advatnages over the 56 and 58

Off the top of my head ...
- The 55A is 10-bit OLED whereas the 56W and 58W are 8-bit backlit LCD screens.
- The 55A is 1920x1080 as opposed to 1280x800 of the 56W.
- The 55A can accept and load custom 3D-LUT's. It has popular log-to-linear LUT's (Arri, Red, Canon, Sony) like the 58W. The 56W doesn't have either option.
- The 55A has a built-in NP-F battery plate whereas it was an additional screw-on purchase for the other two.

At the end of the Nofilmschool Interview, Jin Lee (from TVLogic) states it's $1,600 US List Price. Am I missing something? The GB starts at $1812?

Ahh, so the Pelican & extras account for the price? Copy that! Thx!

I can understand the confusion. Although the included accessories account for the difference, let me circle back round with my contact for verification.

The monitor alone is $1500.
The sun shade is $117.
The D-tap cable is $54.
The protection screen is $67.50.
The camera mount is $13.50.
A Pelican 1150 with foam is $35.

Total: $1,786.98

Not to mention you don't have to get all the accessories, you don't have to wait until the 31st to get your stuff, they'll ship to Hawaii and Alaska, and most of the stuff is returnable.

I feel like the GB isn't worth jumping into unless 20 people are committed. But that's just me.

EDIT: Well that was quick. :) Now it's pretty enticing.

Hey Nicolas,

Can you clarify how 20 or more units is a $402.80 savings? According to Aaron's math, it would only be a $176 savings.

$1,786.98 - $1611.20 = $176

Mike

Mike

I was given these figures based on the TVLogic list prices they wanted to work from. I spoke on the phone with them today about the sub-list pricing of resellers like B&H and they are reassessing. Will have an update shortly.

Spent a lot of time today talking to TVLogic ...

All discount tiers have now been extended another 5%, so even tier 1 will beat the best street pricing.
Also got a year of extended warranty (worth $170) thrown in for free.

You are inncorrect, as is the video.
The only source of this being a "10-bit OLED" panel is the rep verbally saying it in the video.
I've known about this monitor for over a year now. The specs have always been listed as you did:

- Color depth is 16.7 million colors with a contrast ratio of 17000:1

You're contradicting yourself by posting the official specs, then claiming it's a 10-bit panel. A 10-bit panel is capable of producing 1.07 billion colors.

I reached out to TV Logic for comment when No Film School's video dropped. They never responded. The most probably explanation is the rep is mistaken.
