  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Tilta Gravity Gimbal

Related but how about another SmallHD group buy to get a nice price on Gravoty monitoring solutions. Looks like a lemo cable can't be run where the SDI cable is run, the SDI connector output at the top of the Gravity looks pretty legit, not like a loose cable... (Anyone who has a Gravity know if it can be done neatly?) Might be neater to just go SDI monitor route.

Well Shoot. I am new here, but if you will have me, I am in for the gravity. +1
I joined red user while researching gimbal options for our weapon. I almost pulled the trigger on a ronin but couldn't handle the thought of my red camera touching DJI gear (we've had our differences).
Let me know what you need from me.
Thanks for putting this all together.

So the weight capacity is listed at 11-33 pounds. Is that including the gimbal itself or just the load? I'd definitely want to run my red on here but wonder if it could also handle a smaller cam such as an A7s or A7rii or is it too light to work properly on there? Would be great to have the flexibility of using either but understand if that's asking too much of the motors to have that range.

Are we able to run our own cables through the rig?

Sort of. It can be integrated into the left and right parts of the gimbal (tubes are hollowed out, so it's really easy), but the main element that houses the battery is solid, so you can't run it through that directly. you can attach it alongside or on the back.

Personally, I think the armorman is better than this. You feel more in control using the AM, and honestly, I've found the steadi version not very good at all. Put it this way, I know an owner of the steadicam version, and he'll be selling his and picking up an armorman.

Seeing as we're only one away and people have discussed ordering sooner, wanted to ask you Chris if we can wait until that first week of Sept to post payment. Part of my plan to purchase included waiting until at least Sept 5th to send payment. Don't want to hold up the GB but for me to make it work I have to wait an extra week or so. That being said, I'm 100% in for the gravity.

Yes, you can, since those dates were for the group buy...those who want to order sooner have that option of doing so, but if you need to stick with the original terms, that's fine too.

Please put me down for the gravity and armorman 2 please, only with max discount.

Questions:
1. Assuming that we can mount a dovetail plate and then use standard red dsmc quick release dovetail mounting options?
2. Is there a lemo to sdi adapter so that we could use a dsmc 1 red touch monitor on the handle bars?
3. Failing that what would be the best price / performance (weight being a big one) SDI monitor for the handle bars. I had a average Ikan one for the Ronin M, specs were great but impossible to use in daylight...
4. Anyone have experience with the Armor Man 2? As a single operator can I operate one handed to adjust focus?

Thanks Chris, nice group buy for sure!

Yes, you can mount your own dovetail plate to the Tilta Gravity base plate. There isn't a Lemo to SDI adapter that I know of, but you could get wooden camera's DSCM 2 cable, or Freefly's DSMC 1 lightweight cable so there isn't any resistance on the gimbal itself. Armorman 2 is a great rig, especially with the killer savings with this GB, and yes, you can operate as a single person and pull focus if you have the proper WFF tools.

Nick, Brendan, To me it is the Ronin V3. No horizon drift. Its similar in size, but can handle more weight, It is similarly a large gimbal. It has many more aux connectors/options for accessories which gave me everything I needed to easily power everything, and cleanly rig for wireless. It seems to respond more smoothly, or more in control, probably because of the motors weight load abilities, it is hard to get it to break a position if balanced properly. Balancing is better than any other gimbal I have use, simply because of the fine screw adjustments for each axis. I haven't tried the mimic controller yet. I am still waiting on the thumb controller that is coming out in the next month or so, definitely miss that. The ability to adjust the length of the arms is awesome, its very stable and real easy with precise markings for even adjustment to each side. I must say I haven't had a bunch of time with it yet, been out of town without the rig, but with short term testing it has impressed so far. Its pretty dope, definitely would recommend it.

Exactly!!

Hey Chris, would love to ad the Armorman to my order as well please.

Wouldn't it be better to wait for 50, before we all pull the trigger? I really think we can do it. We can get another battery with 50 orders.

You're more than welcome to wait, but we may not reach 50.

As I've stated before in previous threads, the SmallHD GB that is on the horizon will NOT include their smaller monitors, only their newest series since we have already run GB's for their entire smaller monitor series line.

You can put that much weight on the gimbal itself. I probably wouldn't use this gimbal for an A7S rig, as it's just too light and you'd be better off using something like the Ronin M or MoVI M5. The A7S would be way to light, but obviously, you could always give it a shot.

interested in the Gimbal. Have you guys hit 30 yet? when are you pulling the trigger and when does it ship?

yes, we are over 30. Hoping to get order info out to you guys today!

Hi, can you please add Armor Man 2 to existing gimbal order. +1

Thanks!

So what if we start sending money in at 30+ price tier and only 20people finally commit, are we then required to pay the differential (of the actual price tier base on total paid commitment) before product ships or once we pay, price is locked in?

Thanks for all the info Chris! Very excited to send in payment next week,

This has been on my mind as well. Scoured the thread for info about it but didn't see it raised. Forgive me if this is a common question on a GB, but this is my first.

Words from Yang himself:
There is no minimum payload,
You could look straight down 90

Thanks! I'll probably be in for this and the armorman. I'll know for sure tonight. I second the shipping estimate question on when we may expect to be able to receive?

Chris,

I can see from photos that the Gravity cage is adjustable. Ideally for speed of mounting / unmounting. I would screw a dovetail plate onto the baseplate and the slide my dragon on using the quick release plate (dovetail) attached to my camera.
With this configuration would the epic dragon fit height wise? It looks pretty tight from photos....

Also, Assuming that Id have to remove my side handle? Hoping not, again for speed would be great to not have to remove too much.

Please put me down for +2 Gravity Gimbals as long as we stay over 30. My full name is Evan Zissimopulos. Thanks!

That won't happen. Even if it did for some crazy reason...there is always people who message me wanting to get in on an already closed GB, so if people back out, those that missed and want in can take those spots.

Dear Chris,
please count me in for Armorman + delivery asap! How soon can they ship the first batch?

Best regards
Igor

Once you pay for your order, will be shipped within 1 week after payment has been received. Ships from China, to here, then to you. So within 2 weeks of paying (hopefully sooner) you should have your items.

You have a lot of flexibility...and no, height isn't an issue. Yes, you'll be able to use your side handle.
