  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Tilta Gravity Gimbal

Chris, when you say flip it manually, what does that mean? Is that build and balance it in inverted mode? I get that you can flip the camera upside down to make it higher, but trying to understand if there's a way to invert AND keep it rightside up.....

There isn't too my knowledge. I asked them specifically about it, but I think you would have to mount the camera upside down, so when you go into inverted mode, it's then right side up. Pair it with the Armorman and there really isn't a need for inverted mode as the Armorman allows for the camera to be pretty high up there, well above head level.

Point is - they don't have the (Only existant unit in the world?) Demo in stock at Abel.

Why would I have to CALL ABEL to have them CALL TILTA to Bring the demo to Abel?

Sorry - this is not meant to be aggressive - just funny that I would have to jump through hoops to go see it, when someone (you?) just tried it at Abel the other day.

I've got one, but am leaving for France tomorrow for a week long shoot. You're more than welcome to come over when I get back to play.

Is it possible to order Armorman only?

Please read through the thread. But yes, it is possible.

Chris, can the arm be shortened? seems the arm's got 2 sections with some sort of joiner

Guessing you're talking about the Armorman? No, they can't be shortened, and I don't see any reason why you would want them shortened. If they were shorter, the back of the gimbal would hit your stomach/chest.

Please put me down for the gimbal, 3 extra batteries (or however many I need for 4 total) and an extra baseplate (if available)

Extra accessries will be requested at the time of ordering. Gotcha down sir!

Awesome! I'll also probably get another battery.

Thanks so much for putting this together Chris! Looks like we're getting close to top tier super fast.

No surprise to me. You guys are gonna love these.

Hey Chris, have you talked to Tilta about including the new thumb remote they have been working on?

Brody, have you gotten a chance to play with in person? I'm very eager to see some candid video of the gravity in action. If anyone out there is scheduling a time with Abel, would love to see even just a shaky phone video. Seeing is believing :)

Thumb remote is one of my favorite parts of my Ronin-M setup right now as I do lots of single-operator work. Exciting to hear they're working on one...

Nope, talking about Gravity, if powering the camera from Armorman no need to have all the back space, just enough clearance for extreme tilt needed

Hi, here is Ikan's demo video of the Gravity, where they specifically show the adjustment in question:

This flexibility is to me is one of several great features of this evolutionary design.

I'll check out where they are at in terms of that development.

Hey Chris - as we're fast approaching the 30 orders threshold - once we hit it - can we pay and get the order processed and get gimbal shipped sooner? I have some projects in early-mid Sep that I would love to use the Gravity for. Thanks

Forgive me for asking in case this info is already floating around somewhere but I searched all the recent threads and also read the manual but couldn't find it anywhere: does anyone know what the Gravity's limits on the various axes are? I'm in the market for a new gimbal but since I also do quite a bit of steadicam, I'm looking for a unit that might also allow me to mount it to a sled to go from high to low during a shot, either via the rotation or the tilt axis. Also, is it possible to "lock" the pan axis somehow, allowing for precise framing when the unit is mounted to a steadicam sled? Thanks!

I'll check and see.

Hi,

Is there anything like this for the Gravity? http://www.smallrig.com/SmallRig-DJI-Ronin-Quick-Plate-Universal-Mount-1759.html

I am looking for a very fast solution to get the camera off the gimbal and on to the tripod.

Titla will be releasing something like that soon. Once we hit 30, they are now including a gimbal QR plate. With it you can attach the gimbal to a jib or car mount.

I'm not sure the exact specs of each axis, but I've forwarded your question on and I'll let you know if I hear anything.

In terms of locking a specific axis, you can't presently, however there are ways around it, though I don't know how you would really do it on a steadicam. For example, you can use their mimic controller and disable a particular access, or 2, which prevents movement, however, the movement that is enabled is done via that mimic controller, not a secondary device. I hope that specific axis can be locked via the app in a future firmware update.

Looks like my buddy Joshua Paul Miller didn't get added on to the master list (post #53, page 6). Just thought I'd give you a heads up on that.

I think that what Sebastian means is if you can roll 180-360 degrees which is whats needed for steadicam use to go from high to low mode on the fly and looking at your answer below about inverted mode doesnt look it can.If it could then all you would need for inverted mode would be to flip the gimbal in roll axis and you would be done.

Just flip it up, auto-engages inverted mode, good to go! Note the camera will be flipped upside down, you could always flip it manually before going inverted, but that's more time.

With the Armoman V2...the rig becomes a lot higher in terms of its height/reach...so you may not even need inverted mode depending on your stature.

Also the pan axis cannot be locked over anything like mimic or anything else, for steadicam use, only manually and physically, as the pan axis will have to be rock solid, and there is no gimbal motor including this on the market that can hold locked 100% a normal camera load , they all have some elasticity and they will get very very hot ,thats real bad news when you operate steadicam .(elasticity for the steadicam, getting hot bad news for the system)

cheers

Hi Chris, I'm out of the country at the moment, but this has grabbed my interest.

Questions. I'm assuming the Gravity kit includes the hard case and all that. Other questions.

- How many batteries are included with the kit?
- How difficult would it be to wire a RED LCD/EVF Lemo cable through the thing?

Thanks. I haven't had my hands on one to test it, but the payload capacity has me very interested.

Need to look up some footage shot with this thing next.

I like the idea of wiring a lcd cable through it
