  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Tilta Gravity Gimbal

couldnt found any videos online from users (just NAB floor footage)...
also is it sure it will be ready in time? their remote FF is still not out and one groupbuy went really bad...
im just a bit sceptical about this... same as with other groupbuys as that french support system that was praised before anyone had a chance to test it and now there is tons of them selling and even the GB organizator is buying Tiltas exo now :)

Quick question:
Is the weight closer to Ronin or Ronin-M, is the size closer to Ronin or Ronin-M?
This is scary, if true!

Going by the specs posted on the site it appears to have same or larger physical size than original Ronin (it must because it can accommodate a huge camera size without add-ons) - I see this as a good thing.

Going strictly by the posted weights from DJI and here on this thread - the Gravity weighs .4lbs less than the original ronin. I don't know if this is dry weight (I.e. No battery on either, or with battery) .

Ill see if I have time to put my hands on it at Abel this week and report back my personal opinion and findings.

It is honestly lighter than the Ronin. I picked it up and it was definitely lighter, the website says 2.8kg (6.2lbs) without battery which felt right. The top handle bar is about the same size/width as Ronin but it's built rock-solid and literally assembled it in like 2 minutes. Balancing my Raven was super easy as well.

Ronin was always TOO heavy, you could barely hold it for 5 mins with bare camera. Ronin-M's biggest advantage for was the weight with camera (powering from the Ronin's battery plate), so my comparision really is with Ronin-M (that is regarding total weight)

Scroll down their page and on the black and white section it says 2.8kg without batt

+1 (both Gravity and Armoour man) please, HOWEVER you should have come out with this 2 months ago before I bought my MX:banghead:,
BTW does Tilta have a wireless tramitter to feed the screen on the mimic controller?

This blows away the MX! Tilta will be releasing their wireless video transmission system, but it's not built into their Mimic controller.

yes. They are already shipping them...and Tilta has assured me they will ship once orders start coming in from this GB.

The Gravity is rock solid. Others have already chimed in as well regarding its durability, ease of use, customizability, etc. Tilta has really done a great job with their design...plus, we are getting a killer deal!

Thanks Chris - I would also be interested in this. Happy with my current gimbal setup, but looking for a better (affordable) support option :)

If we hit the top tier, those of you interested in just the Armorman will be able to get just that.

This is def'n lighter than the Ronin...it's weight is distributed much better...feels lighter/raised to hold. The Specs that Michael has quoted are accurate.

Its funny to hear people who say that the Ronin was heavy...yea, it was/is heavy, however it wasn't meant for the DSLR crowd or to be used for extensive periods of time without support. Gimbals with RED cams need support. You can't do take after take without a break unless you are using some sort of support device...it's just not really doable. Not even with a MoVI.

Getting stuck on - oh that gimbal weighs too much - may prevent you from really considering everything this gimbal does, how many cameras it supports, etc. You can always go down to Abel and try it or take other RU's thoughts/opinions as true or not. If you jump in the group buy and absolutely hate it for whatever reason, sell it. You'd probably get exactly what you paid for it, maybe even more.

Tilta was nice enough to set me up with the Gravity carrying an Arri camera while I was at their booth during Cine Expo at Paramount Pictures. They took their time placing the ArmorMan on me and adjusting it to my body and the result was just too cool for words. I drew a bit of a crowd while using it. I didn't have a camera picture but it was still possible to feel the weight and the balance of the system and imagine how it would work with the camera functioning. I got that experience on video and I was sold from that point forward. It made me realize that I need to sell my Red Pro Zoom 18-55mm to be able to afford some lighter lenses that will work better for the weight of the Gravity setup.

Count me in for a purchase for both the Gravity and the ArmorMan in the group purchase. +1

Ned Wilson 1 order.

Chris, is there anyway you can have the group buy include:

Extra batteries
Mounting Plate

I was about to pull the trigger before this GB and they had added a mounting plate (for mounting to cheese plates, vibrations mounts, etc) to my invoice. I figure extra batts and mounting plate are items everyone in GB will want.

Hello Chris,

thanks for putting this together.
I have one of the first Ronins (which failed two times) tried the Ronin-M and MX gimbals on the way. I think the Tilta looks amazing and would work best for my needs (Got my Raven recently). Please put me down for it.

I'm from Germany but will be in LA for a job between the 6th and 18th of October. Do you think I could pick it up there somewhere while I'm there?
