Group Buy - SmallHD 702 Series Monitor

Ours came yesterday and we used today on a big shoot. Worked great and have beautiful picture. My AC really liked the bigger image and very sharp and easy to pull focus on. Happy customer here! Thanks for the group buy.

Glad you're enjoying it Christian!

Hey folks. I recently received my SmallHD 702 and it seems to be giving me problems with my Sony FS7.

https://youtu.be/NHk6OkGF04I

There is a significant jitter up-and-down when the two are paired. It's only the image that is affected, and not the camera-information display.

Here are the tests I did:
FS7 + 702 = problem (first part of video)
FS7 + AC7 OLED SDI = no problem (second part of video)
FS700 + 702 = no problem
Changed different SDI cables
Used different SDI output from FS7
Output setting was the default 1920x1080

Just thought I'd put this here. Any ideas?

Weird. I have def'n not seen that on the RED output. Send SmallHD an email so they know about the problem and can hopefully address it via a firmware update.

I sent it to them and they said I'm the first guy that reported such an anomaly. It's happening on my 5D3 as well, but not on my FS700. I'll follow up.

Youre not the first, I am on a shoot with the f55, hook up the sdi signal and it has jittering propblem

That sucks. It's more pronounced when I use peaking (of course). Used it with wireless video and the same happens: fs7 affected, fs700 not affected.

Using mine today with fs7, works fine. Used it with dragon, works fine. I had an issue feeding out to a tv logic monitor and to an action products red accessory, but haven't tested again to figure out exactly what's happening

Also another bug, I cant load any still frame, just the last one captured (even with the box unchecked), can anyone else confirm this bug?

No jitter issues connecting my 702 monitor via SDI to a Sony FS7. My brief testing has left me pretty happy with the purchase so far. I will see just how useful it is on a shoot this weekend.

So after a long wait. I finally got mine, I've used the 702 from a rental house before and loved it but for some reason, why do I have a feel that I got a B stock.

I have at least 5 dead pixels on my monitor. How are your groupbuy monitors? Did I just get unlucky?

I also have at least 5 dead pixels, contacted Small HD and reported defect....no answer as of yet

Wow, so its not just me!

I'm a little disappointed to find out that I think my 702 has more than just dead pixels as an issue. Whenever I use the joystick to the left, it moves to the far most left of whatever/where it can go. The one I used from a rental house, if I hit left once, it goes to the next page to the left but my with my 702, it goes through all the pages on its left and go to the menu. Its the same when I try to return from adding a tool, it goes all the way out.

I need my 702 for the next days but I think I would need to send mine back, what a hassle but I'd be more happy if they just fix this issue.

The QC from this round of smallhd products doesn't seem to be as well as their previous releases. Apart from my jittering image from the FS7 signal, my monitor came with the plastic screen wrap stuck behind between the panel and the bezels. Had to use tweezers to yank them out bit by bit. Some of it is still stuck - never happened to me on any other monitor before.

Can anyone confirm the still photo loading issue, mine only loads the last still taken no matter what I do

I used mine for the first time on a doc style shoot two days ago and noticed the feed would glitch every now and then... Didn't have time to test if it was their camera or a bad bnc cable but I'll hook up to another camera and test today.
