  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: RTMotion Wireless Multi-Channel Follow Focus - Limited Time!

32 names in just 12 hours. Does that mean we can start placing orders today?

Well that happened quicker than expected :) No complaints though- component orders start tomorrow! We'll get our web store prepped to accept the discounted orders later today, we'll be emailing discount codes!

Fantastic-- I've had my eye on this thing for a while. Thanks Kris, and Bob!

nice, I did not check the payment options for the deposit tho - can I choose between e.g. credit card, PayPal or even wire transfer? I always like to have that kind of choice :) Reading the FAQ and everything this looks pretty good to me (I like it more then the red rock attempt to be honest - that's just a personal preference tho).

We have actually had customers use the joystick for precision focusing- because our brushless motors offer extreme smoothness at low speeds, the zoom joystick can be useful for making micro focus adjustments on very long lenses. This is really niche though, constantine is right that generally it's a bad idea for focus. Use the big knob.

Kris

Kris thanks for your answers, you RT motion device looks very nice, can you please state the max motor torgue ?
Additionally. If you are using precission pots , do you have an input port so one can connect a pot (assuming you can release the what K needed usually its 10k precission pots) so one can make an external thump wheel controller?
of cource it would preferably be on the reciever end as its the one thats always mounted on the camera.
thanks again and congrats for your excellent product.
regards

edit: sorry just realised you have a future thumb wheel product coming, please write some info about it.

Additionally Kris, I would like to know if there is any chance of adding a input port of step and direction on the reciever, so that one can connect a moco card and control your motors throu the moco program.
Is your reciever accept step and direction data? is this possible? it would be of great benefit if it is possible, as I can exchange my motion control motors with yours.
thanks in advance and if you need more data from my system please let me know.
I think it would be easy to integrade as your motor drivers probably accept this kinda signal already..

I really really wish I didn't commit to the RR. I don't have enough for both and this one is so much nicer.

Its a free world. If you think your money are worth spent in a better product its also your right to do so. Thats why there are options.

To help out more this forum, you guys can try and email me if you think you need some kinda advice on equipment and if its inside my knowledge I will help out to make a better choice.

Best regards.

Hi Phil! The hand units actually have two small side-knobs (A) and (B) which you can attach to any axis, so you could (for example) buy a 2-motor kit and assign one of the side-knobs to Zoom. You'd need to put the Zoom motor into "slow mode" which makes it silky smooth, otherwise your zoom moves will be pretty useless. Hope that makes sense!

Kris

Thank you Kris.

I would appreciate some clarifications:

- will it be possible to map short focus throw of SLR lenses to the full range of the big knob wheel ? (available from the start or FW upgrade?)
- what is the actual range in degrees of the main/big knob ?
- can you elaborate a bit more on the "Advanced lens mapping (Coming 2013)." ?

Thanks!

done!!

done!!

+ one.

Wow! 48 joined already and that means only two more spots available.

- Any lens (be it SLR or cinema prime) maps automatically to the full range of the Controller knob.
- The range of rotation on the FOCUS knob is a shade under 360º ... I don't know the exact degrees but it's 350 or something.
- Ah- the advanced lens mapping, this refers to the upcoming ability to visually map the lens marks (inches, metres) so you get that displayed on the screen as you rotate the knob. This is an overdue firmware update, finally coming in a couple weeks ish. You'll need to teach the system each lens and then it'll store that.

Thanks everyone, we're at 50, we filled this much quicker than expected! Emailing out the discount codes shortly!

I'm going to keep the list open til we reach about 60 (there are a couple duplicates and some people might drop out), and then we'll close it. If there is a lot of interest we might do a second round, but we'd have to tweak the timeframe as obviously we don't want to over-commit and miss any deadlines.

We can take credit/debit cards via Paypal or Google Checkout, or direct Bank Transfer.

There will always be lots of options and different people doing different things- just like we all need/want different cars!

Hey Kris,

I emailed in regards to upgrading from my MK2.5 but haven't heard back. Any chance I can get in on this deal? Thanks!

I believe RTMotion are going to provide some upgrade packages for MK2.5 owners. Stay tuned!
