  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey guys, I've setup a terrific group buy with OSEE for their new 21.5" HDR production monitor. OSEE production monitors have been a popular choice for the last few years, terrific quality at a great price.

The monitor kit is available in either Gold Mount or V Mount and includes:

1) LCM215-HDR monitor
2) Sunhood
3) V-mount or Gold battery plate
4) C-stand adapter

Great! I am consulting with them about this right now. It sounds like they are going to ship the monitor + accessories in a mold (foam I believe) that will be a perfect fit for a specific Pelican case. So basically it will come in it's own custom cut foam, and if you need a case you can buy the corresponding Pelican case without foam for a perfectly customized case. Which I think is a great idea.
 
+1 for me. V-Mount.
Would also like to get the cheese plate so I can mount wireless video receiver.

Does this have PBP or PIP? And what's the deal with HDR? I can't find any info about how it implements HDR display, I assume with FRC? Any info on gamut, uniformity, calibration options, etc?
 
It doesn't look like it from the pictures, but since they might be pre-production photos I thought I'd ask, does the monitor support 100mm VESA mounts? I'm not sure how I feel about their proprietary c-stand adaptor.
 
Oh damn. I may need to jump into this.

What would the chances be that can ship to Canada? I start shooting a feature on the 17th and this would be great.

Re HDR

"The monitor itself provides pre-loaded Cameras' (all major brands supported)
SDR and HDR lut. Go to the color management in the main menu, where for Gamma
there are a lot of choices there, if you pick up HDR the back light will
be automatically adjusted to the maximum brightness and you now can choose
an HDR lut from a wide range of Cameras supported. "

Technically could start without it.

<EDIT> And it's 1000 nits in SDR not just HDR right? So it should be pretty great outside?

Yes its 1000 NITS in any mode.

Hmm seems odd. 1000:1 native contrast ratio panel can't really be HDR without FRC (flickering the panel/backlight between bright and dim to approximate HDR) can it? Or maybe its just saying it is able to take HDR input? Not so much display HDR?

Yes I'm sure it is, but if it does have an FRC HDR mode then a lot more of the darker parts of your image are likely to be displayed only while the backlight is dimmed momentarily. I think you kinda either get daylight viewing OR hdr, not so much both at the same time. Unclear if or how it even achieves HDR contrast ratios on an 1000:1 panel since it's not mentioned.
