  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY – OSEE LCM215-HDR 21.5" 10bit Monitor Kit

Great! I am consulting with them about this right now. It sounds like they are going to ship the monitor + accessories in a mold (foam I believe) that will be a perfect fit for a specific Pelican case. So basically it will come in it's own custom cut foam, and if you need a case you can buy the corresponding Pelican case without foam for a perfectly customized case. Which I think is a great idea.
Do we know the specific pelican case? I like to order a case at about the same time this monitor will be shipping.

No info yet. But in a pinch you can use the cardboard box in comes in for now. It has a handle on the box too.

EDIT: Looks like the Pelican 1600 is going to be the case

Hmm seems odd. 1000:1 native contrast ratio panel can't be HDR without FRC (flickering the panel/backlight between bright and dim to approximate HDR) can it? Or maybe its just saying it can take HDR input? Not so much display HDR?

Noah, Is it a specification for HDR to utilize FRC? From what I understand, FRC is simply a technique for a monitor to produce shades that it can't natively produce. For example, if you needed to produce 45% grey but the monitor can only produce natively 40% and 50% grey, the monitor would show 40% then 50% for the same length of time to trick our eyes to into seeing 45% grey.

I'm curious if anyone knows which HDR spec this monitor supports? HDR, HDR-10, Hybrid Log Gamma, or DolbyVision.

Lastly, I'm not finding any references to the color modes that this monitor supports. So I would have hesitations about using it for grading. From the specs, it looks like a reference monitor only.

Great! Definitely going to order one as soon as it's confirmed. That's a really great idea by OSEE or whoever thought of this.

I’m seeing HLG and PQ modes in the menu.

Nice, I prefer the Nanuk series though, I might just go for the Nanuk 945 since its essentially the same dimensions with Pelican 1600. Got 2 f those already so its going to stackup easier and better.
Thanks

Hey everyone I have an update.

Unfortunately the ship date will be pushed back to accommodate some tweaks to the monitor casing. Bob Gundu was an early adopter of the monitor and found some flaws with the battery plate placement, and OSEE wants to address it before moving into production. Bob and I are both consulting with OSEE about these changes to ensure everyone ends up with a monitor they love.

I don't have a solid date at the moment, but I'm talking with OSEE to get a accurate timeline for these changes. I'd roughly estimate a date sometime in July, but I need to hear back before saying that confidently. For the time being I'm going to let the group buy continue. If the delay doesn't work for you please send me a PM to remove you from the list. Otherwise let me know if you are interested in joining.

Good to hear. I had wondered, looking at the image of the back on their website, how it could support a VESA mount when the battery plate was smack in the middle of the back, right where the mount should go. Hopefully they're tweaking it so a VESA mount can be used at the same time as a battery plate.

More updates:

– New confirmed ship date is August 6th

– This group buy will run till July 27th

– Everyone in this group buy will receive a free custom foam mold (usually $25), designed for the Pelican 1600 case.

– I had mixed up the number of orders for the 20% discount. At minimum of 20 orders the discount will be 15%, 30+ unlocks 20%, to maximum of 50 orders.

My apologies! But considering we're over half way there with a month left I'm sure we'll make it well past there.

Interested in a v-mount Verison

Can you switch between the A and B HD-SDI inputs using the front panel buttons? I find it very handy on a two camera shoot to be able to do a "live switch" to test the cuts. If you have to dig into menus to do this it becomes an awkward situation during a take. Perhaps you can use on of the function keys for this? Also just confirming there's no ability to show a pip or split screen? That's would be very handy if it did have this functionality but I read in the thread that this is not possible.

The Source Input buttons are designated on the main panel. There is no split screen or PIP on this model. But like the Blackmagic Multiviewer, OSEE will have one too that will give you that ability.
