  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Litepanels Gemini

Thanks David, I will also email service support with the email you provided and provide them with additional details that may help get us a firmware fix.

Update- detailed email sent to Vitec support, we shall see what the response is.

Hey gang,

I've been in CO and AK the past two weeks with very little service. I'm getting caught up with all your PMs and have got an email thread w/Adorama discussing solutions to these issues.

I believe backordered aks are coming soon!

Thx!

Thanks Travis!

Can you confirm if you also see the rotary dial accuracy issues we have been seeing? Seems like a FW issue for sure.

I’ve had my Gemini sitting in my house for a week, and I finally found time to inbox and try it out. Not gonna lie, I’m a little disappointed. I too have the rotary dial issue. When turning it slowly, sometimes the setting actually advances the opposite direction of what I’m doing. Also in CCT mode something seems wrong with the saturation control. There seems to be almost no change until about 95% saturation, and then all of a sudden it gets very saturated. The biggest difference in the whole range is between 99% and 100%.

On a similar note, it seems like the red spectrum is very limited. Goes from fairly magenta at 359 to red (I guess?) at 360, and then immediately yellow/orange at 001. All the other colors have a broad spectrum except red. What gives?

Gotta let them know or none of these things are gonna get fixed any time soon, they said I was the first person to tell them about the jog dial issue servicesupport@vitecgroup.com

I did a support tix thru the Vitec site last week and thru the email on friday. Never recieved an acknowledgement of the support tix - which has me concerned about their customer service. I have 2 lights. 1 seems to be ok. the other is batty. loaded new software into both. Plan B is to send the light back to Adaroma in exchange for one that works.

from Vitec:

Thanks for reaching out, I am happy to report we currently are not aware of any hardware or component level discrepancy with the Gemini light fixture. As I mentioned to another user, we do have a unit currently in for review but we are still examining the issue with this particular unit (and or units).

Since the discrepancy was reported our engineering team has continued to troubleshoot this issue to find a root cause. May I trouble you for the serial number for your light fixture?

Just got my replacement model from vitec, Packaged way better than Adorama, thank you Vitec. However, out of the box with old firmware I am experiencing the same squirrelly jog dial issue, and same issue with the new firmware too.

Thanks Travis!

I've been made aware of this via PM. My original unit is working flawlessly with no dial issues. I do know there's a unit that was sent back in that they are investigating. Still waiting to hear back on a solution.

Has anyone gotten the Snap Bag soft box yet? I ordered 3 and got the first one today...pulled it out of the bag and BOING....it comes to attention. Nice, but now I have no idea how to fold it up to get it back into the bag!

It is tricky to pack for sure. Essentially do the main collapse, then line up the creases (meaning the larger panel gets squished a bit) then fold the whole thing again.

Thanks Bob...I was afraid to bend the wire frame inside, even though I know it had to be bent to be folded up in the first place.

HAHA same thing happened with the egg crate. softbox on the way, by friday.

I've been talking to a few of you who've been experiencing issues and have followed up with Adorama and Vitec. Here's the latest from Vitec.

"The Engineering team has provided the Service team with new firmware that both tests the encoders and fixes the issue you describe – for most units. The Service team can provide that code via email for any user to update the firmware. There are a small number of units that may have encoders that need to be replaced – if so, the Service team can quickly replace those units with a new, tested unit that already has the fix installed."

Email for Vitec service team: servicesupport@vitecgroup.com

We WILL get this solved. Email service and let me know if any of you need additional support and I'll do my best to see you through. Thanks!

Vitec support has been all over this and communication via email has been excellent. They provided me with a Firmware update which has resolved the rotary dial accuracy issues 100%. So much better, night and day difference!!! I can actually set values and adjust in both directions without an issue on all three dials...like a new light :) I suggest anyone having the issue reach out and open a ticket, I assume they will release the update soon as I will be reporting back to them now that it is working great for me.

Received my pannel don't seem to have any issues but will test more this weekend, (ups seems to have lost my case so hopefully they. find it soon) Also any chance is there an update for bt dongle's, Grids, or sandbags? Adorama seems to have no idea when they will be In stock.

Thank you!
