  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone been notified to send their epic in for the dragon upgrade?

Many of us have been notified by Red that we are eligible, and I among many others have purchased the upgrade, but has anyone been actually notified to send their Epic back to Red to receive the upgrade?

Not that I know of. I would not send ours in yet, as as far as I know there are no post tools to actually debayer the footage yet, so Dragon, until this is rectified (which i'm sure it soon will be), cannot yet record immediately usable footage.

BTW I recently spoke to a person you know named Ida (I'm sure you know who I mean). What a great person she is! This business needs more like her.

Interesting info thanks... i just left her a couple of days ago. She is a nice person and i wish her the best.

RED will give us tools when they give us sensors... They may be extremely rough around the edges and extreme alpha-revision tools, but we'll still get them. If you're not prepared, or willing, to endure the potential growing pains of the new sensor, don't jump in line right away. Actually, I think if you jump in line now, you're safe, it might take a few weeks for RED to get through all the cameras already signed up.

And it's not as if you are unable to use your camera until those tools are available... you can just drop down to that-is-so-yesterday 5k. '-)

Even in 5K, Dragon is still another sensor, so you still need new tools with the new color science. Let's just hope they'll be ready soon !

True that. But they've said they won't upgrade any cameras until the firmware/color science is complete. I think the tools being referred to are the post tools.

Considering no Images has been showed at NAB , no images has basically been showed online (aside for 3-4 stills ) ... i believe that the upgrade is probably at least a month away (maybe more ) (due probably to debayer , code , software reasons )

juts my 2 cents
