  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The guy when he took my order gave me a order code and said an email invoice was on the way but I never received it and the order number he gave me does not seem to work at order tracking, sent them a message from the contact page and haven't gotten an email back. The charge definitely went through on my credit card. Seems a little odd I can't find the order even if it hasn't been shipped.

They told me 24-48 hours for the order to be viewable on the website.

The Snapbag has actually been backordered for a couple months, been trying to get one for my Gemini I already had. Then I ronically I got a notification just today from B&H that they are back in stock there, so hopefully there will be enough for everyone now.

That is good news. The representative I was contacted by is named Manny. He told me the Litepanels were backordered and could not say when they might be available but it could be awhile, and I got the impression that the accessories could be several months. I told him I would be happy to place the order once the Litepanels were in stock. I am kind of surprised this group buy did not come through Litepanels directly and is really a group purchase discount deal for Adorama that you arranged but I would not want to place an order until they are in stock and ready to ship. Also in the picture of Scot's Litepanel boxes, they look a little beaten up, probably the contents are fine, but I am used to merchandise being shipped in a box besides the container that it comes in, especially sensitive equipment. Ground shipping like this across country sometimes get rather damaged. Can we get them thrown into a carton of some kind? I have never received anything from B&H like this.

Jon, Manny was my guy too. He seemed pretty confused. After I hung up with him, I got another call from yet another Adorama guy (can't remember his name) saying he was ready to take my order for the group buy. When I told him I had talked to Manny like two hours before...he seemed embarrassed and even a little bummed and hung up. I think these guys are killing themselves to get this stuff out. i got my lights and barn doors today. The barn doors shipping notice went out the same day as the call, but the message that the lights had shipped was sent at like 1 am. Manny had told the same thing about back orders and clearly did not have an info on that stuff. Still, I got a notice that the dongles had shipped today and a few minutes ago, one of the 3 snap grids I ordered. Still to go for me are the snap bags and two more grids. I am pretty confident that all of this stuff will get worked out faster than those guys are telling people.

On the torn up boxes, yes, they are a bit tattered. My barn doors all came in a funny triangular box that they had made out of taping 3 other boxes together. Nothing is damaged however. So, in this instance, I will take it. FWIW, I have had a demo Gemini from LitePanels in my possession for about 3 weeks now, and it has been around the block you can tell, because the shipping box is all torn up. But you know what, the super duper foam inserts are so good on these lights that it doesn't matter.

On B&H. I am done with them. They recently changed their free shipping policy with UPS to Fedex. Where I live, just outside Boston, I used to get whatever I ordered from B&H the next day free. Now it takes 3 days or more...and there is no explanation. Adorama's free shipping is still UPS, so everything comes when i need it. I have many more beefs with B&H, but to sum it up, I have been super happy with the lengths that Adorama has gone to to make this thing work and will continue to shop there unless they don't have what I need.

One thing to know is that these lights are really a great piece of gear, and you saved more than $1000 on each light you bought. This group buy saved me $4400 smackers.
