  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

got my deposit in! Cant wait! Thanks Carey for putting together such an awesome group buy! Cheers!

Made my deposit too. :001_cool:

Carey, thanks for the effort so far, but please convey to Pierre that it would really help if we could see decent pictures and vids of l'aigle in action soon. (as in: on cam footage) It's hard to trust only a simple drawing and one sneak-preview video of a prototype. I'd also love to know if the system makes any noise? (springs, metal working)
Cheers!

A message from Pierre:

"11 years experience is in fact a great help getting perfect products right out of your mind. Besides, I studied architecture and have been trained to think to anything beforehand and prior to the actual construction of a building (since you could hardly change anything when the bulding is finished !). I have not the slightest doubt about the exoskeleton as it is now. "

I have gone from being a slight bit skeptical to being totally convinced of the quality of this product and the company behind it; all thanks to the way this GB has been handled and how forthright the process was. Thanks Carey and Pierre!

Hmmm...architecture is solid works that never move. Steadicams and exoskeleton are all about moving weight
through space in a smooth manner so doesn't seem to have much or anything in common.
If exoskeleton were the answer why didn't we have them when film camera rigs were 50lbs.+

If all the exoskeleton does is take off the weight that's one thing but to be steady one can still have tremors in a vertical and horizontal direction
with a too light weight camera rig. Often a large weight and mass helps to steady an object from small tremors. Guess I am in the minority here still waiting to
be convinced of the exo usefulness. If the exo removes physical exhaustion that is one thing but that doesn't guarantee steady camera shots...
although for sure it is better than nothing since physical exhaustion will not even allow one to hold the camera rig at all.

The camera's mass won't change using the exoskeleton, and, as you note, Mr. Das, mass is extremely helpful in reducing small perturbations in movement (on any axis).

No matter what your expectations or assumptions are, this GB gives you all the necessary options to succeed.
You put down 20% (refundable) to stay in line and wait for delivery in 6 weeks or so.
You wait for pics, video, and or reviews from those who have used it before you commit further.
If you are not happy with any of those, you bail and get your money back.
If you are still OK, you take delivery.
If you are then not satisfied, you still have 14 days to return it for a refund.

You risk shipping costs if you actually go as far as to take delivery.

Patience. All will be revealed.

Agreed with Galen, I just caught this thread by chance. Wasn't really paying attention. Someone should send a PM/email to everyone in line and give them a heads up.

I'll send everyone a PM when I get back to my computer tomorrow night.

About removing tremors: the gimbal does that already. After several minutes of handholding a gimbal, with no support, my hands tremble like crazy, but it doesn't show up in the footage. I can't see how, by taking the weight off of my arms, the Exoskeleton could possibly cause me to tremble any more than shooting without it.

I'm confident that the Exoskeleton will have the exact opposite effect. I believe it's going to allow me to relax and become one with the camera so that I can focus all of my energy on getting the perfect shot.

For those of you who want to feel the weight, it has knobs on it that allow you to dial-in exactly how much weight it takes off of you.

Why didn't they use exoskeletons back in the day? The same reason they didn't use gimbals back in the day: they didn't exist.

Deposit Paid. Thanks Carey!
