  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Hexolux LED Spotlights

I saw the new 800 equivalent and I would say more like a 575, but still very cool.

as far as the group buy goes, those lucky RU's that got in on this are in for something extra in the package!

I stopped by the Hexolux booth and saw the final production units that are shipping out to the RU GB folks this week and next as promised. Nice stuff! Can't wait to get mine and put them to work!!

Great to hear! Can't wait to receive mine!

Anybody received theyr's yet?
I've got some gigs where I could use it, but I can't imagine how long the custom guys will scratch they're heads, once package lands here
Curious about the surprise as well!

So far customs has been at most a one day delay.
Does anyone who has received a kit care to share their experience?

It was great to meet so many of you at NAB!!

Best,
Pete

Pete have you posted info about your new products anywhere yet?

Hey Pete,
I'll post something when I get mine. Looked great at NAB!!

Hey, Pete, I must have stopped by your booth at NAB at least four times (over 3 days). You and Rich R were very patient and gracious with me each time. Thank you for that. The D7s are definitely on my "to buy" list.

Received mine yesterday. They look and feel great. Nice case too. Virtually no heat. Pete shipped them and answered my emails. Thanks again for this group buy.

Great to hear! I should be getting mine early next week. WooHoo!!

ETA update: one week

My apologies to those still waiting.
We expected to be done shipping today, but we still have more to ship.
Our custom case supplier has not met their commitment on the delivery of cases, delaying our shipment of the remaining orders.
I expect that we will get the rest of the cases in time to finish shipping this coming week.

We have included a surprise in the kit that will surely be very useful.

Thank you so much for your support and patience!

Best,
Pete

I saw that PeliCase at NAB. Real nice touch Pete. Thanks for the extras and attention to quality and detail. Can't wait to put the beauties to work next week. Please give me the heads up before launching the KickStarter for the 4K. BigLu wants mo power

Picked mine up today but haven't even had time to sort through the case. Still not sure what the surprise is.

But the case is really nice!!

I saw the case as well, but I was told at the booth that we would be receiving a better case...

Thank you very much

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to share my initial D7 experience and a few production stills from our last short that I lensed a couple weeks ago. First of all, the craftsmanship and build quality is excellent. It could definitely take a few knocks here and there. The color accuracy is impressive as gelling the lights produced a color that I expected. Here's a breakdown of each still that I posted.

1. Night for day
-fixtures were placed on the balcony at full intensity through a window and 1/4 grid
-wanted to spread the light as much as possible
-color temp dialed in on the RED to simulate a late afternoon feel

2. Car
-gelled fixtures to get close to the orange sodium vapor lights
-the plastic bag became undone a quarter of the way through the take and was exposed to the rain, but I checked it afterwards and it was still good to go (whew!)

3. Interior Night
-D7 in the background (gelled to match tungsten) that was cut by the barndoors then had it positioned to bounce off the floor to simulate the floor lamp that was in the living room
-wanted to create some depth/texture and have a strong contrast between light and shadow as the director had envisioned

There are many ways to skin a cat when it comes to lighting, but I generally don't like putting big fixtures in front the actors as I would rather give them the space for their performances. Having something that gives off virtually no heat, good intensity with a small footprint is definitely a big plus.

Great write up and, as the Group Buy Cruise Director, it's great to hear a positive customer experience. I should have mine this week and will try to throw something up. (that kinda sounds like a hairball)

Cheers!

Since I don't understand the physics of light, what is the result when 3 off these are joined together as a team. Is the light strength simply 3X? Does it increase the throw at all? Sorry for the basic question.
