  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Formatt-Hitech Firecrest ND Filters

Yep. It's looking good for early fulfillment. I'll start PM'ing or emailing you who to email in the next couple of days to get things rolling.

I also got to bump hands with James at NAB, which was nice after all this time. The big news here is that a whole lot has been going right at Formatt these days including having a stock of filters these days to fulfill orders. Which is more or less why we can likely cater to those who needs stuff quickly. Looks like the vast majority of what people are looking for here can go out shortly.

That's such awesome news. I'm shooting a short the first weekend of June, and would love to have these available, if at all possible. Thanks for all your work on this GB, Phil!

Hey Phil, are you still likely to post some tests with the Supermist, Low Contrast, etc at various strengths? We might add some onto our order but would love to see some grabs.

Hey don't offer a blender in 4x5.65 do they?

Hi Phil—thanks for putting this together. I’m in for some superslims.

1X of 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, 3.0 in 77mm

Yes. Shooting this week. Debating on how "full blown" I should make this test.

Don't think that's part of this GB.

List is updated today. Nearly 40 peeps. Nicely done.

I'll get cracking on that diffusion shoot. Just need to square off a couple gigs. Tricky doing this while in the storm!

Phil, thanks for getting this GB off the ground. Perfect timing for me. Is the 4.8 ND available in 77mm Superslim Screw in?

I will take the following -

1X Firecrest ND .9 - 4x5.65
1x Firecrest ND 1.8 - 4x5.65
1x Optical Flat/Clear - 4x5.65
1x 77mm .9 SuperSlim screw in
1x 77mm 1.8 SuperSlim screw in
1x 77mm 3.0 SuperSlim screw in

Also waiting on this. Already got the NDs based on Phil's review thread from a while back. Hope to get a clear and a few of these other ones via this GB.

Thanks Phil for putting this together. I am in for the following filters:

Firecrest ND for Matte Box (4x5.65)
0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2

x1 Linear Polarizer (4x5.65)

x1 Firecrest ND HORIZONTAL GRAD (4x5.65)
1.5

Ready to pay whenever. E-mail is sean@323productions.com if you need to reach me about the order.

So with this group buy, how much does each 4x5.65 filter come out to? I'm not sure this deal is better than what I was able to get through the Filter Connection http://www.2filter.com/. My filters came out to about $300 each. And I'm confident they would give the same deal to others...

1-4 filters = $333.90 each plus shipping
5+ filters = $310.05 each plus shipping

I have only used screw in filters and currently have a full set of Hoya ProND 82mm.

As most people here are ordering rectangle, who wants to talk me into 4x5.65? I'm sure there are pros and cons.

I can't see any 4x5.65" Firecrest filters listed on their website. Did you have to contact them for prices?

Can't really speak to the optical pros/cons, but from a practical standpoint, I see the pros as being more universal than screw-ins. You'd be able to use the rectangle NDs with just about any lens -- since they're independent of mm size.

And if rentals are a factor in your business as well, I'm betting these would rent more frequently than screw-ins, again because of the universality.

Yeah you need to call and ask for Andrea. This was the deal she gave me (the more you buy the bigger the discount):
