  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: Cinegears Wireless Follow Focus Christmas Special!

Are the red start/stop shipping? I had something to be delivered by dhl from diy filmtools but unfortunately the package was misplaced. Just wanted to check what it was. I am guessing its the trigger but just checking with you guys.

Was wondering if any of you have ever tried to power your cinegears focus motor with the aux ports on the red brick quick plate module: http://www.red.com/store/products/quickplate-module

I picked up a short lemo to lemo cable from lets that I thought might do the trick, but when I plug it all in and fire up the red it says it shut down the port and it does not work.

Any info on this would be very helpful, would be stoked to run power form that aux on the quick plate module!

Aren't all the red power outs limit4d to 2 amps or something? I would be shocked if you could power any kind of motor off of a red lemo.

Nick

Really? Huh. Am I thinking of a different connector? I never use them, I have power break out boxes for all my stuff. Am I thinking back to Red one days? Glad to be wrong.

Nick

How might I go about setting the red up to power one motor?

I wish I could help you Daniel, but I'm not too sure. I've been powering the motor off a Lipo..which basically runs it almost all day.

I just got my Cinegears Red start/stop from DIY Filmtools. Haven't had a chance to test it yet, but just wanted to confirm they're shipping. Feels really well made, very solid like the FF controller.

Nick - you can power SIX motors - ARRI, Preston, Heden or RED from a single "red lemo" and never hit 2 amps -

For what it's worth, here is my experience using the Cinegears FF with the Quickplate lemo aux so far:
- During calibration, the motor sometimes pulls more than 2 amps when it hits the end - thus triggering the aux to be shut off
- It works fine other than during calibration so if I calibrate using another power source, it seems to work well

I just got my start/stop but haven't been able to get it to work. The light on the remote toggles on and off but it does not trigger start/stop. Is there an instruction somewhere to look at? Does something have to be turned on in the camera menus?

i don't know. You can try emailing support through DIY film tools or PMing Steven here on the forums. Let me know if either of those don't work and you can't get it working.

Hi Jonas,

There is some menu setting you have to change on your Camera to get the trigger to work. I have included a link to the video that should help you to get it to work. Please review and if it doesn't work let us know and we'll help you out.

Steven - I sent you an email last week about my FF kit.... the trigger wasn't included.
Please respond to my email when you get a chance

The Cinegears Motor can be powered by Redvolt,12V/3.8 Power source, a "Redvolt to Cinegears Motor Power Cable" is required.

My Plus hand controller only maps lenses to 180º of the controller's rotation. Makes for very tight marking.

I'd seen 300º mentioned in a DIY Filmotools video.

Has anyone mapped a lens to 300º?
