I can't speak for others but I don't have shooting plans in the near future. I can wait weeks or even a month or two.

But what are the differences between all these products ? Because the prices are very different.

Quality of the product, customer support, technical design, quality of the used materials... many differences. Do those differences justify the way higher prices? That's on you to decide.

The most impressive demo posted so far is this one :
Movcam Avant S test clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPR8KUQ3m10

But on the other hand this could be attributed to good settings/balance made by the operator and not necessarily the quality of the movcam. And we don't have a similar demo video of the CAME system. So perhaps they are comparable in quality ?

I asked (in another thread) about a similar Wondlan system http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-15kg-Load...lizer-Steadicam-deluxe-edition-/111008530201? (as it had a powered sled and pass though for video)... here's one of the only videos I can find - it shows a similar thing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R97fsml40_M - watch for the crazy moves before he goes outside... and also the fact that he rests the post/sled/camera on a table :)

But, really, as a lot of the experienced Steadicam guys have said, acrobatics with a rig only shows a few things (notice that the camera isn't level a lot of the time on the clip you linked).

David and Kwan's approach of testing is really the gauge for the usability of these systems.

My expectation is they'll be OK - but lack a lot of the bells and whistles of the higher end steadicams. However, they'll certainly be a 'gateway drug' (Timur should have patented that phrase!) to bigger systems for those that choose a serious Steadicam route.

Update from CAME: "We can add add a LEMO power and an HD-SDI connector to the sled."

Also I contacted Laing, the original producer of the CAME steadicam. They are preparing an offer and will send it to us early next week.

EDIT: Also Laing would add LEMO and HD-SDI connectors.

It would be nice if they would consider an alteration of the monitor mount.
The present one looks very funky..fear it might adjust balance as such.
A simple adjustable...rod based system would be nice.
And apart from the group buy...it might help them sell more units in the future.

It's a pretty easy mod. One afternoon with a mill and it's done. But it would be nice if the system we end up buying would have it already as a feature.

if they add the HD-SDI and Lemo, i'm sold.

How quick can we get an order together? I'd like to get the rig sooner than later as i've got a couple shoots in the works.

Agreed - or at least have a connection system for the monitor so it can be connected to an adjustable rod at the base.

Well, the options are getting better now - power and video to sled will be good and easier for set up... will it be Red compatible? I suppose, if it's a custom job it could be Epic/Scarlet ready.

That is pretty awesome! Just to clarify, is it the same type of Lemo plug for power to Epic/Scarlet?

What kind of battery mount ? Is it a v-mount or an AB mount ? The Lemo plug works with a Red One ?
Can one switch the HD-SDI with a hdmi connector ?

It's cool to see a lot of different offers coming in, but they are still pretty high in price. I think most of us are looking for the best deal under $2000.

This is definitely where I am at.

+1.. the other rigs look good, but not much better than the Came IMHO... be interesting to see what comes out of the various hands-on tests.

I'm almost a 1000 percent sure that the ProLine stabilizer is a re-branded Came/Liang one. It's interesting that whoever is selling the ProLine one is offering it at $1200, quite cheap for something that we've been vying to get for less than $1500...

If that's the case, we should be aiming to group buy them for $1k flat! Worth a try, anyway.

OK guys. Let's not sound like total cheap asses here. We're already being badly poked at over in the steadicam forums.
