  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

I see how to connect via the dtap on my battery. But I'm still clueless as to how to connect these lights and wires together. A brown, yellow and white wire... a green little box with room for two wires. Sorry, I really am ignorant in regards to power and these connectors. I'll send someone a gift card if they can explain how to connect these bits and pieces. Or is there a tutorial somewhere?

In terms of components are they all ordered for the full production?
Also a while back you had said you were still doing tests on the desktop supply that we ordered and didn't know which one will be shipped with the controllers. Have you and or the manufacturer decided which power supply will be coming with the controller?
Thanks.

I got the power figured out with Brandon's kind help. He called me at 3am his time. Very generous and helpful.

But when I connect to the D-tap on my v-lock, my strips get very warm/hot. Is that normal?
Or am I sending unregulated power to the strips? I've only left them on for 30 seconds because I didn't know if I was hurting the strips.
Thanks for any input!

Most V-Locks actually output 13-16Vdc when fully charged. This is driving the strips very hard, so not surprisingly they will run hot. This will shorten their lifespan, but not sure by how much. This is why a regulated 12Vdc power supply is preferable.

You can find some way of regulating the battery voltage, and/or try mounting them to aluminium conduit to act as a heat sink.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Things have been a little crazy, personally.

First about the controllers, I just got an update today. Apparently, they are having typhoon problems in China and the manufacturer was shut down a few days. This also affected suppliers, so yeah... It's going to be 2 weeks before I have the controllers in hand. :( The good news is I may be able to get more samples, so more people will get them.

Regarding my health issues, I'm really not doing well. I have had a lot of eye problems lately (down to 40% vision in my right eye for a while), which has really limited how much time I can spend looking at a computer screen, so I'm way behind on emails. I talked to the hospital about delaying my treatment date and it's not really an option at all. They can only offer me a new date in like December of 2017. By then, at the rate I'm crashing, I may not be in any condition to even do the treatment. So, my family started organizing an online fundraiser and if we reach the goal I'm going to do the treatment September 6th. I'm also selling off some gear. The way this is timing out, the production run of controllers should be done right about the time that I get out of the hospital. I'm training up someone to help with all this, also.

That's the latest.

I just donated.

After all this talk about my health problems, I'm sure there is some concern about what happens with this Group Buy, even if it's way in the back of your mind.

If I'm able to do the treatment in September, it will delay things a bit more, but it shouldn't be by too much. I have someone that will be helping me manage all this stuff, and if the unimaginable happens (extremely unlikely), they will have copies of everything and you will still get everything you ordered, rest assured. You are all also welcome to Friend/Follow me here, if you would like. I'm definitely not going anywhere.

I feel bad that this isn't really timing out well for anyone, but I really can't kick the can any further with this treatment. I have serious walking problems now. I have numbness all throughout my legs, I've nearly fallen twice in the last day, I'm losing strength rapidly in my legs, and "walking" is becoming more like hobbling/staggering. I've also had serious vision problems come and go (a bit) the last several weeks. My vision was down to 40% in my right eye a few weeks ago. My eyes are getting better now just as my legs have started getting worse. The treatment I'm scheduled to get next month will fix all of this and should reverse the damage that has been done (though not overnight).

As with the unpredictable nature of this disease, these symptoms could all dramatically improve over the coming days, or they could get much worse. I know many people with aggressive MS, including my father, who just woke up one morning unable to walk and/or see. It's hard to describe how it feels knowing your own body is betraying you and having no idea what the next day will bring. What is very clear though is things are getting worse fast.

If you have no idea what any of this is about this post/video will get you up to date on what is happening: https://www.facebook.com/lostinriga/posts/10153544305021199?pnref=story

If you want your lights and kits now, drop me an email confirming your address and phone number (even if you already have). I'll be shipping out as much as I can this month.

Thanks for your patience and trust, everyone.

Hi Brandon -

I want to publicly acknowledge my sympathy for your illness and to wish you the best on your road to recovery.

I would also like to donate all of the money I paid you for the controllers, power supplies etc. toward your surgery.

You owe me nothing.

I hope you get well soon and enjoy a long, happy life.

Carey

The final controller samples have arrived and look great. Testing tomorrow. I'll post an update soon after with a timeline and plan going forward.

Thanks for your patience, everyone.

These look great Brandon. I know things have been hard and stressful as hell for you, but take a minute and appreciate this great accomplishment. Making stuff is hard, harder still when your not feeling well.
