  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

excellent job. Could you post your lighting diagram?

I had 24~1ft variable strips (running both colors) in a Chimera Pancake. The strips on a piece of chloroplast stuck to the speed ring of the Chimera (pointing straight down) with Scotch Extreme Fastener, (not sure how high but) directly in the middle of the table. I had the skirts around the Chimera down about half way all the way around.

What's the latest on the controllers????

I just got the latest update this morning. I'm told things are looking good and the software updates and stress testing will be done by Monday. Cross your fingers, everyone!

Okay. .. let's hope this is is the one!

Exciting news about controllers! Hope final test all works well. Am keen to get them!

Also, Brandon, have sent you a number of emails about getting the fixed strips and a PM. Can I please please get them shipped?

This is the 3rd place you have written me in the last 5 minutes :) Your stuff is already on the way. You were just sent an invoice for the shipping charges.

I'm pretty sure I posted these before but I have upgraded them with the new LEDs from Brandon and they are excellent. The dewalt one is based on a 14.4v dewalt flashlight with a 2" x 14.5" ID PVC glued to flashlight head. great work light too. Cheap and easy to get new dewalt batteries at any home depot. The cycle rate of these batteries it good too. The LEDs don't seem to have issues with the 14.4 voltage. I have made a bunch of these and they hold up well. They can also stand on their own.

The other one is based on a Lantern Lock armature from film tools, http://www.filmtools.com/lanternlock-17-mogul.html. I removed the mogul socket and mounted a 2" x 14.5" ID PVC to it. I used a 4 pin xlr so give me various option for both ac and dc power. This is very light.

How many feet of lights do you have here? What are people using for boom poles for china ball when moving with it?

I used a full spool which is something like 15' long. When wrapped around a 2" ID pvc pipe that it 14.5" long it will cover most of it. It is perfect for a boom pole because it is so lite. I use conduit instead of pipe to save on weight.

I have been getting slammed with email/messages. I'll try to finish up getting back with everyone on Tuesday. Shipping this stuff out is all still a manual process, unfortunately.

Oh, and I have some set video showing how I used all those big panels we built to light the lobby of a building. I will share soon.

Thanks, I'm exploring options, paying $95 for that lantern lock in this application, (which is a $1 china ball frame) is a hard pill to swallow & is almost half of a Chimera lantern which I can the attach to a speed ring I already have so I'm thinking is going that route unless someone has a lantern lock laying around that they'll sell me for a reasonable price.

Are u using a regular mic boom with yours?

I'm also starting to think this way. Looks like at the end of the day it's going to be the chimera.

Update: They are mailing the, hopefully, final controller sample to me in 2 days to approve.
