  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

I got my strips
Am I correct in assuming that 12v dc marking is 12v positive and w is daylight negative and ww is tungsten negative? Or is it the reverse? I searched the thread for wiring instructions but couldn't find it.
thank you Brandon

W = "White", the coolest color temp chip. WW = "Warm White", the warmest. It's the standard nomenclature for LED strip lights.

Hey Brandon,

Just wanted to check in and make sure I was still on the master list. Didn't see my name on the list on first page of thread (not sure if it ever was). Paid up for 3 variable units and the updated controllers. Haven't checked in with you in awhile and just wanted to be sure before final tweaks are made and these start shipping out to everyone. Thanks!

You're on the master list Sam. You're all set.

I will have an update about the controllers later this week, everyone!

Do you have an eta on controller shipments?

That's what I was referring to when I said I'll have an update soon. They have had a holiday the last week in China.

Yes, you are. Everyone that paid their invoices is all set.

Hi Brandon

I think he refers to the fact you said they were working through this holiday so perhaps an update would be possible.

I`m becoming concerned about timescales for receiving units this year.

Approval of components soon, manufacture time, ship, import, logistics getting items shipped out and (for me) import, means this not being in hand till December likely?

Thanks.

The engineers are, but I won't have an update until they open again. I don't speak with the engineers directly. I'm hoping I'll have an update tomorrow. The controllers are totally usable right now as they are. In fact, I've used the last several revisions on my film. The only major issue right now is they get too hot when they are under a max load. The 40A capacity is 5x more than Lite Gear's standard dimmer. There is nothing else on the market like this, and we are 95% there...

As for a timeline, the production run takes 2.5 weeks, and shipping will be ~3 days. Everything has cleared customs right away, so I don't expect much of a delay there. Warehouse processing is supposed to be 2 days. I'm getting stressed about the delays as well, but I'm 100% confident these are going to rock. So much so I took a 5 figure loan from PayPal to get us up to the minimum number of units to make this happen. So, yeah. I'm all in.

Oh, and lights have been ready to ship. If any of you need your lights now, email me!

I'm getting stressed about the delays as well,
? (Lol)

Dear Fellas'
Please do not stress it, God knows what he is doing

Sincerely,
Kwan Khan

Good one, Khan!

Hi Brandon, and thank you for all the efforts put into making this happen.

I do not have the time to go through the whole thread, but I think I've read something somewhere related to a shipping invoice ?
When should I expect to receive that shipping invoice ?

I'm in Canada, and I am also wondering what will be the shipping options and how we can handle this to keep the custom fees to a minimum.
Is my shipment also going through the shipping third-party/warehouse ?

Best regards,

Arnaud

Some people are getting their lights shipped to them before the controllers (and power supplies) are ready. It's all on request. If you want your lights now, email me. I'll better be able to answer your other questions by email, too.

Is it running too hot something that's a big concern?
The way I see it, that last 5% could theoretically take a lot more time though correct?
The only reason I say this is because I've seen a lot of projects where someone inks out that last little bit and the whole thing is delayed by 6 months/1 year (not counting other delays).

The units I have tested work under normal use, but they have a target temp they want to be under when there's a full load in order to maximize the lifetime of the units. It's really in our best interest to let them do it. I understand your concerns, but this won't take much longer.

I have to ask... Does this new set back mean that we won't see the controllers until January of next year Because of the Chinese Holiday?
