  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

Brandon earlier stated that the power supply that comes with the kit will run two strips. Or was that just the controller? (I am assuming we didn't all just buy power supply-less LED lights here! If so, we'll definitely need a recommendation and a link.)

So looking forward to these.

Stephen

I sort of meant the controller timeline. Is June not a possibility? Brandon do you have a suggestion for a power supply for two variable strips?

We are still on target for June.

Regarding power supplies, I'll have detailed suggestions in documentation later. Testing various options.

Sorry I haven't been keeping this updated. I have had some pretty serious vision problems lately and staring at a computer screen makes things worse. Basically, my optic nerve is severely inflamed and it's kind of bad. Just got back from the hospital where I spent the day doing tons of tests. It should be under control in a few days with the drugs they gave me. This is why I've been slower than normal in replying the last week. Things are moving along as expected. As I mentioned, the manufacturer is making a few last minute tweaking to squeeze out higher frame rates. As soon as I have news I'll post it.

What will the desktop power supplies we ordered run? Thanks!

I think this has been answered several times. A full strip needs 8 to 10 amps and the desktop power supplies are 10 amps.

[I am not a qualified doc - just some thoughts that might help]

As you were ill recently, following by eye issues looking at a screen : I would consider taking additional Vitamin B12.

Sarcoidosis comes in waves - and some consider it to a possible auto-immune issue (my family has this). If you have had other issues (like shortness of breath) ... it might me this.

Look after yourself sir.

Total bummer on the eye issues. Hope you improve soon.

You were on the right track with autoimmune, Antony. Did a lot more tests today. Nothing good. My right eye is healing, but my left eye is rapidly deteriorating. I'm getting an MRI and IV corticosteroids tomorrow to try to save the eye. I'm really hoping the vision loss isn't permanent and this isn't a sign of bad things to come (like MS).

The good news is we can start shipping lights early next week. Everything is in the warehouse, processed, and ready to go. The controllers are still on track for June and look great.

Brandon,

If detail within the MRI will help with the diagnosis - the newer (eg 3 Tesla machines) have far more Resolving power & detail
(enough so that US Insurance companies sometimes insist on their use over older MRI machines that would give less precise images).

I will ask the Sarcoidosis Patient 'X' in the UK. To see if he has gleaned anything about what (he thinks) might have helped him retrospectively (he lost his hearing, it came back. The first attack of Sarcoidosis for him was very sudden).

I will PM you if I can get hold of him tonight.

No answer this evening => I'll reach out to him tomorrow.

AJ.

Hi Brandon,

I read with interest, your medical report above. It might be prudent to consult with one of the top tier tertiary, ophthmalogic institutions-maybe more than one, if you have not already done so, as this course you are describing is, at the least, more than pernicious.

In case you and/or your consultants are not aware, there are many treatment protocols, for various diagnoses, that after benefit of the retrscope, were actually detrimental to the intended malady, despite then sound and well intentioned ideation. Not that a second "look," with the retroscope hasn't reversed previous observations... Central Serous Retinopathy immediately comes to mind, in opthalmoloy's purview.

Best wishes for a complete, speedy recovery
