  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

The LED strips have been sent. They will hopefully arrive by Friday. If not, then early next week. As soon as they do I will immediately start contacting you about shipping.

I have only contacted a half-dozen or so people so far with the info about the controllers upgrade. Sorry about the delay. It's very time consuming, and I've been out of town helping with a family emergency. I will do as much as I can tonight and, hopefully, finish it up tomorrow. This isn't causing a delay. The manufacturer is working on it as we speak.

Half of the the stuff in the power kits arrived today. The rest will be in the next day or two.

The second LED group buy will start as soon as the LED strips ordered in the first group buy start shipping.
 
Brandon - no hurry on anything here but I am just confirming: if we are al in and paid up for our original order, should we eventually be expecting dome sort of email from you to confirm something about the new controllers?

Yes, everyone that ordered the budget controllers will get an email about the upgrade to the new controllers.

They are in the connector kits. We also have custom made connectors for variable strips that aren't available anywhere else.
 
Update!

3 more big boxes arrived today. That should be all the stuff for the kits. The LEDs are en route. They may get here on Friday. If not, then on Monday. As soon as the LEDs arrive I will start contacting you about shipping the lights and kits. Power supplies will go with the new controllers because I want to fully test them together before things are finalized.

Oh, and I have the reports from the LEDs now. Everything came in at at least CRI 95 and some as high as CRI 98. They fully optimized everything for light quality and longevity. The reports will be included with your shipments.

We go live on a second group buy as soon as the lights for the first group buy start shipping. If you are interested in Round 2 then PM me your email. I'll post the list as soon as we go live with it. There will be a few new options that I've been testing for the second round that I'm really excited about. Excited to share the details soon...

I'm sending out data sheets and invoices for the new controllers to everyone as we speak. If you have any questions, let me know.

My Sekonic C-700 arrived today so I tested one of the tungsten strips in our Group Buy inside a 1 foot tube with diffusion.

CRI 98!

I can't wait to get these out to all of you! This test really made my day.

Hey Brandon, I will completely not mind if you accidentally include your new Sekonic in my shipment ha ha. All kidding aside, those are great numbers. I can't wait to see the spectral analysis.

I see some of the leds sticked to a FOREX panel ( that;s the name of the material , a plastic which is lighter ). Many nice materials for these light you will find at the suplliers for advertising materials, light boxes etc. Another nice thread here :

Unfortunately, I don't have a normal light meter with me and I don't have the long tubes with me. I'm out of town for a few more days.

Yeah, everyone will get the full spectral analysis for what they receive. Full transparency.

What is interesting is that I tested a strip of Tungsten Literibbon I happened to have with me... The results were very surprising. Let's just say... I think that now that we can have a portable spectrometer that allows us to easily check the CRI values of lights, more than a couple manufacturers will be caught with their pants down. Gone are the days of cherry picking the test results you use to promote your product.

Why not post what the literibbon scored? It's not like it would be defamation or anything like that. It would be 100% factual. I think a lot of us would be very interested to know how they compare to our stuff, good or bad.
