  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I know you hate the delays too, but it does mess us up, even though we factor in the catch phrase. We just want your cinema altering product so dang bad! I'm not siding with Trevor, but I think he just wanted an email, and even if he's just here to vent, a little more personal communication for the people that will be affected wouldn't be a bad thing. I love getting emails from you guys :)
 
Yeah, I can see how a combination email/forum route would work best as a way to bridge the divide of old/new:

Perhaps send email to reservation holders regarding major announcements, and Reduser forum for announcements and everything else.

Although, personally, I don't need an email and I think that to send too many emails would be too much coddling. Reduser is fine by me :biggrin:

If he does, can I have his camera? (Always worth a try. We're shooting a feature in March. Two cameras are ordered, but it would be bliss to get one earlier than planned.)

We sent an email to 101-200 today before my post. 10 minutes after I made the decision. I don't know how to communicate any better.

Did anyone notice that there are some - FIRES in California? This nickel and diming of emails or no emails is at this point really silly. Be glad that Jim made the announcement here... I would understand if he didn't and we just found in a week or so when (hopefully) everything will be back to a more normal state.
 
All that said, a specific "Red Official Communiques" or whatever forum that is read-only for major announcements and changes to the production schedule would be much appreciated.

I've been involved with a broad range of people and successful business folks and I've never seen a company communicate on the level that Jim does. I just can't wrap my mind around people complaining about lack of info and such.

Communication by it's nature is never perfect, but RED is doing an amazing job.

My DSL/e-mail service has been sporadic with these Santa Ana's. Would it be too much for me to ask for updates by messenger pigeon? I'll leave my window open tonight just in case.

There are penguins in Antarctica who are going to bed hungry tonight and we are so self-absorbed that we complain about rot getting another *@$5@{&* email. No wonder penguins hate us.

I stepped out on the patio to have a smoke and I shit you not, a white owl flew over! Man, you guys are good!
It's pretty sad when my cigar smoke is cleaner than the air outside. It's been a devastating week for SoCal. Hope y'all are okay out there.

Just woke up and this good news: thanks for the update: FFD is as important as increasing the picture quality. The new PL mount is a MAJOR UPDATE if it realy works and let us control the FFD. Does angle shiming also can be controlled with the new mount? Hmm, that would be kind of magic. My RED 222 starts to be a perfect christmas present.

The delay is totally cool with me. Seems totally worth it. And this is NOT a complaint, just a question. But as someone else asked, is the 25FPS is that an absolute ceiling rate? No chance for 29.97? It works great for PAL, but for our purposes, we will be delievering to NTSC often and while we can introduce pull down, it would be great if we didn't have to.
