Hey all. Glad I have my side handle finally for my Scarlet-X. Noticed a few bugs though, and wanted to know if it's normal, awaiting firmware, etc:

1) It doesn't follow my fps setting. On the side handle display it always reads 23.98 fps no matter what fps I set the camera to, even if setting it with the side handle itself. Is this normal?

2) I couldn't figure out how to playback a recorded clip with the side handle. Anyone?

3) I'm aware of the STILLS-MOTION switch not being active at this point, but what about the sync port? I do a lot of studio photography and would love to use it with my flash equipment.

Overall, I like it a lot and it is definitely build with quality like a typical RED product.

It is neither buggy. And it is not just you.

1) The "23.98fps" refers to the project timebase (23.98/24/29.97/30/48/etc).

2) What Mark said:

using your side grip controls, spin the dial to settings, then click play back, then toggle down to play... Simple :)
I'm looking to set up a key on the grip to get me automatically to playback page.

3) With no dedicated STILLS mode, there has neither been the activation of the sync port. "At some point", you will...

Thanks guys! any idea when the firmware will have power management abilities so the batteries last longer?

No, but I'd guess that when playback, 720P, redgamma3, SDI audio, TC management and general audio issues are adressed, it should be just around the corner! :)

Mark:

Just tried it and it worked great, but noticed that the only way I could get out of the playback menu was by pressing the rec button once. Is this how you do it?

Hey Mark
I tried to set up a button on my side handle and or on the SSD button today but couldn't find playback as an item in that pulldown menu to do so. Have you worked out how to do that yet?

There is currently no action you can map to do this, but it is on its way.

So do you mean there is no audio out on playback over SDI? Waiting on our Epic X, but certain regular shoots we do would require audio over SDI.
