GL Optics Sigma 18-35 Rehoused - Group Buy

Dan Kanes: Let's get this thing over 51 units guys!

+1 canon mount, if the number goes over 50+

and your job is as always appreciated David.

David, two questions:

1) How much if we provide the lens ourselves?

2) Could NAN include a way of preserving a 77mm thread?

Hi Nick,

here's Nan's response to your questions:

1) I don't accept custom Lens rehoused for this Lens. Because it's very trouble for China customs. I have no time to get the Lens from customs many times. Sorry for that.

2) Sigma 18-35 has 72mm front UV screw. I can keep it, why need 77mm?

With or without 72mm filter thread? What do you all think? A filter thread might come handy...

If its not any problem to leave a 72mm thread I would like to say let's leave it please - I use screw on filters all the time.

Nan will add a 77mm filter thread, since that's more or less the standard size. A step down ring to 72mm should work, even at 18mm.

You can start ordering the GL optics rehoused Sigma 18-35 T1.8 now. If you have already announced that you want to place an order... don't worry, you're registered for the first lenses :) Still, please send me the needed information.

If you want to read through all the available info again, please check this post.

How it works:

1) Send me a pm or an email with the following information (or fill out the attached Excel spreadsheet and send it to me).

Real name / Company name; REDuser name; Contact email address; Paypal email address; Invoice address; Shipping address; Mount of choice (PL / Canon / Nikon); Amount of lenses;

2) I'll collect all the orders and send them to Nan at GL optics.

3) Deadline for this group buy is September 15th midnight PDT.

4) GL optics will send you an invoice on Paypal after September 15th. The price depends on the number of ordered lenses. Shipment (80USD) is included in the price:

0-25 units = 3280 USD per lens
25-50 units = 3080 USD per lens
>50 units = 2880 USD per lens

5) Nan starts working on them soon, so the first lenses will be shipped in late September. If you order just before the deadline, you get your lens ~ mid / late November.

Again, you wont get charged before September 16th. Paypal offers a money back guarantee, if the order is not fulfilled.

Please don't send me a conditional order like: "I'll order one, if we get more than 50 orders." You can send me always a message and ask how many orders are in, so that you can decide for yourself if you want to place an order or not.

Cheers
David

PS: Sorry, the forum wont allow Excel files as attachments, so I had to zip it.

I'd like to get in on the buy. Able to do testing in LA next week if someone has a PL version sample.

So you say the focus throw is about 120 degrees on the moded lens.... How many degrees was the throw on the original lens? I am just asking because one of the biggest reason for me to want a "cinevised" lens is because I hate the short focus throw on DSLR lenses....

Ah, since this zoom would be a great companion to 30-80 or 30-105 zooms, all with a more common 114mm front,
would it be possible to have it with 114mm front with internal 77mm and maybe even an additional 105mm thread like the canon 30-105mm?
If this is possible I'm 100% on board.
Thanks!!!

Nan from GL optics asked me to offer you the option of a non-refundable deposit of 700USD. Since he can't be sure if some orders get canceled, and his funds are limited (well who doesn't have this problem), he can't start working on making the Sigma lenses before September 16th, when he sends out the invoices.

So the option would be that you make a non-refundable down payment and get in return one of the first delivered lenses. What do you think?

Cheers
David
