why is there so much friction on the tilt control on this unit... i mean the old unit =)

Perhaps the friction you're encountering is due to not properly
balancing your rig on the Gearnex. Even one battery can throw it off.

Joe is offering an upgrade path to original owners.
From what I've read, it absolutely ROCKS.

What is the expected ship time on these?

I'm still waiting on one for an invoice paid on April 27, 2009 and ordered via Silverado...I know this is a new product, but seeing promotions gearing up when backorders from a year ago aren't yet filled, is a little disturbing for me.

Hi Meryem,

Can you please check with your reseller on this issue. We show all units shipped that have been paid for.

Many thanks to Joe Mendoza for getting in contact with me about the situation and offering an immediate resolution - always great to hear directly from the manufacturers who care about their customers. Thanks, Joe, looking forward to seeing you at NAB!

The NAB show has been fantastic so far, people have been loving the new gears and the free spin. Hope you get a chance to try out the GearNex at our booth C7338 or at Abel Cine Tech and B&H Photo

Come by and see us at the RedUser event tomorrow from 11am - 11pm. I hear we may be giving away a GearNex at the event. Guess what, the winner gets to take it home that evening :-)

I have to say, as one of the early adopters, you guys have outdone yourselves.

I loved the version I got, but this one is literally 10 times better. I couldnt see any jitter in the tilt, and it was remarkably smooth. The tilt is now so effortless, I almost broke my wrist in anticipation. Really, I cannot stop giving you guys praise, because it really is a work of art now. Before it worked well, now its art.

I also liked the tilt plate you guys have designed. I will be adding one to my kit as soon as they are ready.

Thanks guys!

Joe,

Any word on an update to the original head. I'm interested. The head is very cool.

Hi Robert,

We wanted to take care of all our previous buyers, so since the new units are $7,500 we are only charging $1,500 to upgrade to today's model. Yhe upgrade includes the custom gears made just for the GearNex which achieves free spin as well as going twice as fast. Other internal and external parts, such as rollers, hand wheel knobs and the tilt end plate is included in the upgrade. A really great deal if you knew our cost.

Just email me us at Sales@CineToys.com to make arrangements to get your GearNex updated.

I have to say; I've been intrigued by the product since it was first talked about - but now I've laid my hands on one, yes, it's an amazing tool and I hope to get one soon!

The GearNex is getting ready to make a huge splash at the RedUser event. In about an hour the doors will be opening with a nice surprise, thank you Team RED

Congratulations GearNex Winners

Congratulations GearNex Winners

Congratulations,
Ken Willinger for winning a brand our new updated GearNex at the RedUser event Wednesday night. Ken was able to take possession of his GearNex prize that night so he can start practice his geared head skills immediately.

We also wanted to thank last years winner, Michael Billups, for stopping by our booth and letting us know how happy he is with his GearNex prize from 2009's RedUser event.

I took mine to NAB for an uprade... I have to say, the difference is night and day. I should say I have one of the first prototypes, so mine was a little "newer" than a lot of yours.

With the changes there are now, I would put this unit up against ANY other geared head out there.. It's froody!

(Let's see who can trace that word!)

Jay
