  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FYI: Sony announced S35 mm smaller form factor camera today

of course by then it may be too late for them to regain whatever marketshare they'll be losing to you.

This camera misses on so many levels. I can't think of what market is going to buy this. It's too expensive for the prosumer and small independence filmmaker markets, and it's not enough close being good enough on the professional level.

Well that would explain many things :)

You guys have kinda dropped some hints that you wanted to surprise us by having product ready to ship at a good pace when you announce. The whole EVF and RED DRIVE situation made me think "awww, RED is not going in that direction after all" - but hey, if you are secretly planning to surprise us that is just awesome.

Of course I have vowed to spend all of 2011 writing, prepping and saving money for a 2012 shoot - it just seemed smarter that way - rental prices will have returned to earth, all of the bugs will be squashed, people will have good 3D rigs, computers will be fast and cheap enough etc... so take your time and do it right, I say!

Id always wondered , apart from obvious passion , what made RED so unique ..surely others have the capacity to push the envelope too ..or are they just to money hungry and like milking the tech for all its worth .I wonder if RED employees would have accomplished individually what they have at RED anywhere else

maybe i should just write an email and ask ...see what they say LOL

Even more telling - I think the majority of the excitement in this thread is about the Scarlet info you dropped.... not the Sony camera the thread was originally about.
Then again, what is there to really say about a camera that costs nearly three times what it should to give you a third of what you want?
Not much.

I for one always have taken that quote about change in your signature to heart. But it’s always really nice to hear what you guys are feeling on the project. :patriot:
 
If the RED ONE M-X wasn't in use by tons of high end projects around the world... we would have no credibility whatsoever. :-)
