  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

From Adobe: Epic and Scarlet Audio update

If you get hiss or no sound then it's not loading the right version. Perhaps it's loading the older version from somewhere else? Not sure if it could find that first if the old copy is somewhere where your path environment also points to.

Thanks for your reply Rob. I checked that. In fact, I deleted or moved to a memory stick every instance of ImporterREDServer on my MacBook Air, including the .ZIP files, backup files, everything. You can see in the pic below the only copy of ImporterREDServer is the new one dated March 2nd, in the proper place (see status bar at bottom) in the application directory. Man I wish this worked!

Can you do the same for ImporterRed.bundle?

Cheers

OK, so I am getting the hiss also. I have the most recent version of the importer and PP 5.5, too. I have verified the old versions of the importer are not in those corresponding folders, too. I hope this will work soon.

No, for some reason, the finder doesn't show PP5.5 .bundle files in the search results. If I search for type = bundle files on my entire Mac, I get just a few from various other programs, but none show up from PP5.5. But I have verified that the only ImporterRed.bundle file is the one in the Plug-in/Common folder dated March 2nd.

Actually, did a terminal search of the /Applications directory. You can see the 3 .bundle files from the 3 CS5.5 applications. Also the date of the .bundle file in the PP5.5 Plug-ins/Common Directory.

Can you do me a favor. Go into ~/Library and search for .cfa files. you should find one that matches your red file name. Quit premiere, delete the .cfa file, reopen and try again.

Thanks

Dave

Just a shot here, but the only times I had hiss from Red footage was from channels I had enabled audio recording on that did NOT have a signal going in.

I.E. - I enable 1/2 and 3/4 but only send in a mono signal to channel 1, then 2/3/4 will all be a solid hiss. Try splitting the tracks out and deleting empty tracks?

I am going to try this update now.

Hey David, that worked!

I had about 300 .cfa files in there and I deleted all of them. Got Audio working!
Thanks for your help!

In windows 7 look here: Users/Name/Appdata/Roaming/Adobe/Common/Media Cache Files
In OSX look here: Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Media Cache Files

I am following along, did a good update. All my footage still opens, but no audio. I was going to try your delete the .cfa advice, but can't locate the.cfa file in any library. Could you clarify it's location and name?

EDIT!: I figured it out, you meant the .cfa files that, on Windows, are in with the original .r3d file. I deleted the old ones, imported the footage, it had to re conform and.... AUDIO!!!!

Amazing the relief I feel having audio in my timeline! Thanks!

Thanks David, this fixed it for me too. I just cleared my media cache and let the clips re-conform and it's working great. This is great to have now! Thanks, props to the Adobe team as always.

Woo hoo! Nice update, Adobe Guy. Thanks. Installed without a hitch. Nice to see my 5k in real time with camera audio synched. Thanks again and again. Looking forward to CS6 goodies...

Installed it, and getting audio now, but I'm having an interesting problem - the audio sounds like it is playing at 25% speed: it's verrrry slow. Any guesses what might be going on? I deleted all .cfa's as suggested.I DID previously have the Lightroom 4 workaround previously installed, which worked perfectly, but then re-installed my CS5.5 apps before applying this update so as to set everything back to square one.
