  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Frame.IO Launches

Hey Emery,

It looks pretty rad and much needed tool for global content creation. If we have any suggestions of things we would like to see added to Frame i/o, is there an email we can send our suggestions to you?

Congrats on the launch,

Adam

We currently have two levels of users, team members and collaborators. A team is a group of users that share the same bucket of projects, have access to create new projects under that teams account, and delete stuff. This is usually your internal team. A collaborator is someone you invite into an individual project and they do not have access to any other projects. They can upload and delete their own media but they can not delete anyone else's media. We wanted to start very simple with user permissions so they didn't get confusing but we'll add in some additional layers as we discover where it makes the most sense.

ok- then I have a bug for you ;) - bet place to send that?

I have waited sooooo long for something like this! Super happy! :w00t:

Use the "?" in the lower right hand corner of the app to send any info to us in-app so we can track it properly. If you don't see that "?" then you probably have an ad blocker or some extension thats blocking it.

you can email me jason (at) frame dot io

I'm not impressed. Been waiting all day for my 1.3GB RD3 file to be "prepared for the web", nothing yet.

We don't currently transcode R3D's only QT based files, however we can store any file so you can use Frame.io for filesharing if you wish.

Deeper camera original support is in the works and you guys will of course be the first to know.

Congratulations. I just took if or a spin. It's fantastic. I'm looking forward to using it right away.

Didn't know anything about this project and I started using it the same day as it launched, it's just as simple as it needs to be. It's a very basic form of tool, but it's so needed for me as a director, superb!

I would love to see this available for my clients who wouldn't have a Frame account. It's the perfect feedback tool for multiple revisions, but don't want to have my clients have to create an account on something just to review a video. Could this possibly be added?

This tool is extremely cool and it works really well. However....I have to say it's too expensive. I want a tool like this locally hosted so the space can be more easily expanded. I'm sorry but in today's world where a TB is 10 bucks a month from Google, their prices are crazy.

Also, a gripe but it does not seem to support R3D file conversion. Anywho neat tool but not complete.

We have some additional sharing options coming but we do offer "view only" links right now that do not require creating an account.

It can't be all things to all people on day 1 but you'll see the platform continue to evolve. We aren't trying to compete on storage prices nor is that our business model. You're paying for the software primarily, not the storage. That being said, you'll see some additional storage options in the future.

Emery, is this now or will be in the future, something we can use in a kickstarter program where you can link some video (other than just an Apple platform? at present for potential contributors to see?)

Just trying to identify ways this would be useful to me.

Elsie, it would not make sense for Frame.io to compete with purpose built mass distribution frameworks like Youtube, Vimeo, etc..
I think they are better off utilizing their bandwidth and resources maintaining peak file transfer performance, transcoding, and whatever new features they have in store.

I would hate to see a performance drop because 50 million people are watching cat videos.

Hadn't really thought about it in terms of bandwidth... just size. I was thinking how it might be useful to keep in contact with contributors on a timely basis to share BTS videos.

Probably best to go another route.

Oh, and I'm not doing porn so no cat videos '-)
