sounds good. by the way.. very wrong of you to come in here straight lying about me making an offer on your lenses. not that it even matters..but shows how you are. my question was simple..and all you had to do was simply answer it.
by the way.. 18mm cooke panchro vignetting is not a myth. and i never suggested that your panavised set did, which is why I simply asked you if it did or not.
so in fact..no mythbusting really...just clarification.
It would just be so sad if some buyer bought lenses only to find out they have a vignetting problem after he has already paid for them. If they don't vignette..thats awesome..and that set will go to a good home.
Tonaci, i think your post was not a question but it felt like more of a sabotage of my lenses, showing links to footage that bears no relevance to my lenses, links to reviews basically giving the glass bad press on a thread that is selling set of lenses, it doesn't help me in any way and could mislead people. Don't believe everything that you read, i always say i don't belive anything until i actually test it myself.
Apology for saying you had made an offer i actually got you confused with another member with very similar name. It was a genuine mistake.
No hard feelings though. X
I initially had a single post asking very succinctly whether or not your 18mm or 25mm vignettes. My subsequent post was in direct response to Tony Covell's inquiry of where I got the info. I was clear to point out that I was referring to "non-panavised" cooke panchros as exhibiting the vignetting. There is no sabotage going on here as I have never stated incorrectly that YOUR lenses suffer vignetting..which is why I asked in a thread for clarification.
*attention alert..the pics attached are from cooke panchros..but i have no clue if they are form the panavised ones.. bob can clarify.
attached in this post are pics you uploaded in a post last month (one pic is the cooke 18mm and the other is the leica 19mm).. and it "looks" like some vignetting is happening (the cooke pic has some dark round corners in lower right which i don't see with the leica still)..although I want to be clear again, I COULD BE COMPLETELY wrong..and it all could be just lighting. different lighting setup perhaps with the leica vs cooke pic? additionally, I don't know if the cookes you uploaded stills for are from your panavised cookes.

your vimeo post is tough for me to use for judging. any possibility of a 1k or 2k download version of that? again, please don't get defensive about this. my inquiry is simple. These are rehoused cooke panchros..so I am naturally curious if they vignette or not. I am hoping they don't vignette as that would mean more full 4k options for glass. i am not trying to sabotage you, like evin, I love glass..and I honestly find your set of panavised lenses interesting.
Maybe I will ask again... Bob, Close focusing? I shoot a fair amount of table top and would like to know how tight I can get. I know they are not macros but I would like to know before I make a bid.
Thanks in advance
Taylor
I do think there is a very slight fall off on the speed panchros, but it is less on the panavision cookes. However it doesn't render them unusable and certainly doesn't relegate them to 2K only, i think maybe the bncr mount lenses are different, which is why visual products said that.
Hello Bob,
How much does the focus ring turned, how much travel?
More than 360?
Tek
Just a FYI. Victtorio Storaro loved the Cookes and shot a few films with them that we all might consider beautiful films.
Also Stanley Donen who owned his own BNC fronted BL 1 owned a set.
Fine glass.
on a pro35 it will Vignette, the frame size on pro35 is big not far off a stills size gate, thats why most people use supers or cookes on them, in my experience anyway. i have never tried them, but that's my hunch.
Stephen 4 years ago i saw full set of MKII supers selling for 5K on ebay and look how that has changed. Glass has gone nuts.
Thank you to everyone who showed an interest in these lenses, as it is sunday
they are now sold ( pending payment ) :shiftyph34r:
Hi Kaya,
Do you have the name of the shop that did the re-housing of your Cooke's for $1,800 each? In addition to three of the Century Re-housed Cooke's (32mm, 50mm, 75mm), I have a full set in the original mounts that I would like a few, if not all re-housed. And Sorry to here your set got stolen... that blows.
Thanks,
Todd
p.s.: I got my 50mm from Bob H. the other day (thanks, Bob!) Waiting to bring it down to Duclose with my other two to throw them up on the projector... Mechanically that lens is really smooth!... By they way, Bob, do you know how many Century Re-house's were done for the Cooke's? A few dozen? A hundred? Any idea, how many of these sets are floating around...
