  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Viewfactor Impero Micro Wired Digital Follow Focus.

Sounds cool CVB A few questions:

- can the zoom control be with the operator and focus with the AC ?
- Is there a version for 15mm rods or will we have to adapt ?
- could you make a package for 1 motor and 1 "pro" remote ? At this time I really only need wireless remote focus, zoom and Iris may come later...

Hi there, Curt. . .

Are you currently taking orders for the 3-motor, wired system? Will this system work with Nikon zooms? Or just cine lenses?

Thanks very much.

I would love to pre-order your package deal.

Just let me know how to!

Thanks,

1)Yes, 2)A 15mm adapter is included, 3)When the pro remote is finalized and we have pricing I'm sure we can arrange something.

We will have more info on pre-ordering in a couple weeks. The system works on cine lenses.

Curt, are your motors different than the Red motors? The Red motors are going to be $1250 and you're advertising motors for $900, I like a reduction like that!

Are you still going to be able to have your receiver+transmitter+wireless controller setup for $750 as you announced previously?

It seems that the 'package deal' would be 3x$900+$750, so $3450, but you announced $3750, what's the extra $300 for?

Not trying to nickel and dime ya, just trying to keep track of it all and to see if you're still pacing to hit where you were before.

Hey Shawn... the motors were going to be the Red motors but we were having difficulty getting our costs down to a price point that made sense for Red to carry them. On the plus side you guys are getting a big discount :)

As far as the pricing goes... 4 cables are expensive and I made a typing mistake. The price was supposed to be $3650. I think we're well below what I estimated this time last year.

Looks solid!

just a few q's after seeing the real unit:

- Is the gear snap on?
- why hirose instead of the lemo?
- Can you still control calibration from the hand unit or do you have to press the button on the servo?

Excellent...

Vincent.. Yes, that's the reason for the gearing functionality.

-The gears are snap on. 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, and 0.8 module gears are included.
-The pos hirose connectors were left over from another project... Final units are using 9 pin size 0 lemos.
-when the calibration button on one motor is pressed all the
motors on the network calibrate. You can also push the cal button
on the remote. It takes about 10 seconds.

Awesome! I'm in for the package deal!

Thats great news Curt. I am looking forward to getting in early on your great new products. I am confident it is going to be one of the best remote FF on the market.

How strong will these motors be? Stronger than Preston? Just wondering about cold weather performance.

Thanks,
Bob

Preston DM1's top out at around 82 oz-in, the DM2's top out at 58 oz-in. Ours go to 75 oz-in on 12V@1A and 150 oz-in on 12V@2A. The drive train uses mini harmonic drives so we get great performance in a small package that has zero backlash. We are planning on some extensive testing so we'll let you know how they fair in the cold. I'm not sure if we'll be able to hit the -20 something that the Red one can goto but we'll do our best.
