can someone please explain me how i format ssd cards with the sidehandle or the redmote? and i would like to give the cards the numbers i want if possible. thanks mucho

Do you have your 5" touch screen LCD?

If so select Media and then format the media, durning the format process you can number the cards.

If the cards have been formatted before on the build you are using you can also use "R3D Data Manager" to format the cards http://www.r3ddata.com/

This option is in additional interfaces: Re-Format Red Media. It will only reformat the card to the same build as it was last formatted.

Hope this helps.

I trip on this sometimes myself. I use the side handle navigator stack (ring, arrow keys, center enter button) to get select media, then format media, hit enter when the reel ID number is highlighted, use the arrow keys to get around the virtual keypad, select the number(s) you desire for the reel ID. Then, instead of pressing enter like you do for every other confirmation I can think of - hit the button that normally switches you between menus and viola' your reel number is accepted and you can use the arrow keys to get to the format button, press enter, and Bob's your uncle.

HTH. I probably didn't use all the "official" nomenclature so hope I didn't confuse the issue further... ;-)

Cheers - #19

thanks blair, but i wish there would be an easier way :)

I think a web based configurator that accesses the Epic like a network device via the ethernet port would be AWESOME.

The Ki Pro Mini lets you do that so you don't have to diddle the switches like 89 times to get it set up.

RED showed off their camera control app at NAB this year, so hopefully we'll see that soon. Not sure if it'll allow stuff like formats, ejecting, power downs, etc...
