I made this list of format sizes for personal use a couple of months ago, and realized it may be useful to share with the community.

I think it's fascinating to have different format sizes in one place - from 8mm to IMAX - and then quickly see how different RED Dragon formats scale and fit into these "standards".

Hopefully some of you find this useful/insightfull too.

I did quite a lot of research on this, however I'm aware there's a chance some numbers could be off (or mis-typed)....so please feel free to reach out if something needs to be updated.

I also provided Image Circles for a number of formats ("IC"), when that info was readily available (to help better understand which lenses could be best suited for different Dragon formats).

Enjoy!

COLOR VALUES:
ORANGE = Established Film Standards
LIGHT BLUE = Arri/Alexa Standards (for comparison)

A handy reference, Nick. I'm bookmarking this page.

Thanks for sharing! I feel like I will be referring back to this a lot!

Also, great idea adding he ALEXA numbers in there. It's nice to see the direct comparisons!

Thansk again!

Visual references are tough. The most complete ones are almost impossible to read. Interactive solutions are usually the best...
I'll ponder about this again. One day I'll find something to optimize these.

A visual reference would be nice

Unfortunately - I dont have that kind of time (wish I did). The math works for me. Im sure Phil Holland has visuals that are similar/close to what your looking for.

Best
