  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Maybe true for the new orders... I seem to remember seeing a post saying they would be fabricated and shipped in parallel with upgrades.
 
Within each upgrade group (going to Woven, going to Forged, going to Mg), we will notify the EPIC DRAGON CF guys first. Then then EPIC-M, then EPIC-X, then SCARLET...

Yes, we are doing new cameras at same time. Allocations based on time/date stamp and materials availability...
 
Jarred and Brent - Any insight as to why the upgrade time (from the time RED receives the camera) so rapidly jumped from a few days to a few (or more) weeks? I didn't expect it to take a month and can't get even an estimated ship date.
 
Brent and Jarred my EPIC dragon should be in RED Irvine getting its sdi port replaced, so if you guys wanna start my CF weapon upgrade. Feel free. ;)
 
Guys, as usually happens around the holidays, people who were notified a long time ago finally have a gap in their schedule to send in the camera for upgrade. So, we got slammed. And since we are making new cameras and upgrading concurrently, hence the longer processing times there on new, too. Sorry, upgrades are an inexact science as it depends on the customer schedule as much as ours. So, we do see peaks and valleys...
 
Hey Brent, I definitely understand that you guys are slammed. I guess what I'm most curious about is the way the upgrades are allocated once the cameras are at RED; if someone received their allocation notice two weeks before I did but shipped their body in two weeks after I did, will they still get their upgrade first? Just wondering if my camera is sitting lonely on a shelf! May seem like a silly question but I've been driving myself insane wondering when my camera will come back! Thanks for any insight.
 
Joel, I am in the exact same boat as you are, and can't seem to get any info. it makes it very tough to plan around... got my notice, overnighted camera, and it was cleared quickly, but have had no change or significant updates without having to keep asking, and even then get nothing of substance. Seems like we would not get notified unless they were ready to roll, would have saved me some headache...

Sad to hear this! Was counting on 8k for a giant screen production starting in Jan.
 
My 'reading' of the situation:

+) The Epic Dragon CF queue -> Woven Weapon is being churned through at a high rate.

+) The Epic Dragon Non-CF (in Standard) queue -> Woven Weapon queue is a big one and 'firing up'

+) The Epic Dragon Non-CF queue -> Forged Weapon is a shorter queue than the Woven - but forged are trickier to make.

If I was going to bet on it ... I guess switching to a Forged increases the chance of getting a Weapon in 2015..

This is the queue order as far as I have been able to surmise, showing upgrade path:

1) Epic Dragon CF -> Weapon CF Forged
2) Epic Dragon M -> Weapon CF Forged
3) Epic Dragon X -> Weapon CF Forged
4) Scarlet Dragon -> Weapon CF Forged
5) Epic Dragon CF -> Weapon CF Woven
6) Epic Dragon M -> Weapon CF Woven
7) Epic Dragon X -> Weapon CF Woven
8) Scarlet Dragon -> Weapon CF Woven
9) Epic Dragon CF -> Weapon Mg
10) Epic Dragon M -> Weapon Mg
11) Epic Dragon X -> Weapon Mg
12) Scarlet Dragon -> Weapon Mg


Prepaid 8K Sensor Queue:

1) Weapon CF Forged 6K -> 8K
2) Weapon CF Woven 6K -> 8K


Then within each stage it goes by order timestamp. From what I've seen here i believe we are somewhere around level 5.

I don't think that correct or you would of had some scarlet dragons that upgraded already to forged. Also need to take into account of other camera owners schedule, and new forged orders.
i think it's more like below

CF epic > forged
Forged new order
CF epic > forged, woven
CF, M epic > forged, woven
CF, M, X epic > forged, woven, MG
Woven, MG new orders
CF, M, X epic scarlet D > forged, woven, MG

Who knows, seems like the que definition has changed a lot since NAB. Normal to me from my NAB perspective meant just a normal dragon epic ( no M or CF on the camera). With all the changes in the "queues" just feels like the normal woven orders will be pushed to January becase the other "parallel" ques de facto pushing down dragon epic upgrades times). Since both my dragons are under a year old right now, I guess aside from being pushed in time on delivery I'll start loosing warranty if RED finds some problem too.

Are you sure about that for the new orders? I'm not sure at all but Brent said that the new orders were sent at the same time as upgrades, is it correct?
As a new Red customer, I'm afraid to receive my CF Weapon in February or March...
