Footage of Scarlet + DSLR Lenses

Thinking of buying the Canon 70 200 2,8 lens and would be interested in getting comments and thoughts in regard to wich version to get, stabilizer version or non stabilazer version.
Thanks
Andi

Andi, I have the 70-200 2.8L IS II, and I love it. Its sharpness wide open at 2.8 is impressive. Look above at post #20, i posted some comparison framegrabs with this lens. It holds up well against the Zeiss ZE lenses at f2.8. I've used the original 2.8 IS version of the canon, and it's definitely not as sharp wide open.

There's nothing wrong with that, it actually is pleasing. The ver II works for me, because I know I can intercut it with my Zeiss lenses at f2.8, and the sharpness will be comparable.

If you want the best Canon, I'd say 2.8 IS II. if you want a softer look, you can always put diffusion in front of the lens.

Andi,

Get the IS version. It works with the EOS mount. And does help prevent some shakiness. I did a test with IS on and with it off. It was a much more desirable shot when it was turned on.

Keep in mind the IS version is not parfocal. The Non-IS is. If that matters to you.

Thanks for sharing Phil, looking forward to seeing footage and stills you might post.

Is the Canon 24-70 2.8L parfocal?
From what i've read in a few forums you shouldn't expect it to be parfocal. Some come close, but not close enough to go without having to adjusting the focus.
It looks like Canon never said anything official about that.

BTW, maybe the upcoming 24-70 2.8 II L is better? ;)

I just heard about the new one today.

As I ordered my Scarlet Dec 30th, I've probably got a bit of time before I have to purchase a lens, but from the CanonRumor post below, there's no indication of when the new Canon will arrive:
