  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FOOLCONTROL for Iphone @ IBC

mikael, can you explain how the pricing a compatibility works here later in the thread,

can you have it on more then one of your devices, like your phone, but also and ipad and now the watch? or is it separate costs for each.

and about compatibility with cameras, do i understand it correctly, its one price for one camera, or another price for an open platform to any new red camera?

trying to see if i had it for my raven, could i also be using it on any weapon i rent?

thanks!

Mikael, I notice that lift, gamma, gain control is only available through the oSX version...any chance that it will migrate to ios ever.

Hello I originally added this on OS X as it made more sense to use this feature with real physical panel with balls and knobs (tangent element) but if you think it would be useful on iOS I can certainly add it there too :-)

OS X and iOS are separate purchases.

OS X can either be camera locked (basically is much cheaper for RAVEN / SCARLET or EPIC / WEAPON users who will use it on a single camera) or works on any camera (universal version)

iOS app is NOT camera locked so can be run on your RAVEN but also on any WEAPON you rent yes.
Watch is just an extension of the iPhone version so not a separate purchase and will come as a free upgrade for iOS app very soon. But as said elsewhere Watch app needs the iPhone to be connected to the camera and cannot be a standalone app due to limitation in Apple Watch connectivity / proc / SDK for now. Could be fun for start/stop or histogram monitoring with an iPhone velcro'ed on the camera but it is more in the gadget territory than the other version of the app...

ah ok, so the app for your phone or ipad is universal, that is good!
so i can get it now, before i even have the camera and try it out on any weapon, right?
thank you!

Yep ;)

would love to see it integrated into ios, initially i have set looks in osx - then switched out control to an ipad...and wished I could tweak a bit

This is excellent to know, at just $150 I'll definitely get this to use as a wireless ff on my zoom lenses and just as a backup controller for my Scarlet-W when I get it.

OK, good argument... will add this asap :)

Any update on the having wireless video integrated into fool control? I saw an older post where you had this going with more info to come, and you were working with teradek?

This is semi related to this thread, apologies for any derailment.

This evening I had a small issue with foolcat. I emailed Mikael and he was on it within minutes. I had sent out a casual email looking forward to a typical next or two day response. Nope, not only was he on it but he went way beyond normal customer service and helped me begin troubleshooting an issue that was related on my end and nothing to do with the software. For those of you who have enjoyed and used his products know just how amazing they are. The fact that he reinforces these great products with superb customer service is something that I think needs to be shared with the community. A lot of times people just use the internet to do nothing but shit all over the place. I think it's nice every once in a while to step back for a moment and appreciate someone going the extra mile. Thanks Mikael, appreciate it man.

Newbie question.

So I just received my Weapon and I have a Scarlet W coming, however I am an Android guy.

What is the best device to buy so that I can control both of my cameras. I'm thinking of an IPad mini but I'm concerned about this talk of operating systems.

Thanks gang.

Hi Troy and welcome to the dsmc2 club ;)

Any device able to run iOS 8 (so even the oldest iPad mini) will run foolcontrol fine.

And you can control both your cameras from the app.

Like Troy, I'm new to Apple stuff. I have a used iPad running version 9.2.1 (13D15). I want to wirelessly operate a RAVEN (possibly 2) through all allowed paces. At the same time I may want to simply use Foolcontrol to wirelessly operate a Weapon 6k/8k set up with manual lens, so no lens control of any kind.

I can make the iPad the non-internet hotspot or even use a non-phone but wireless/blue tooth Huawei cell phone as the hotspot.

What Foolcontrol app do I need to hit my targets?

Hi Elsie

The camera can create the network so you just need your iPad + foolcontrol iOS app.m
No hotspot needed. Camera can control to a router / existing network but that is not required if you want to connect straight to the camera.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks Mikael, that gives me a foundation to work from. I'm sure I'll have questions as I get deeper involved.
