Here's something 'new' and free : foolclip

Basic mac OS app to join PRORES spanned RED clips... either as a new self contained PRORES file or as Reference 'foolclip'. Both will have same timecode and file name (reference clips will break if moved around so may need to be re-created if file hierarchy changes). May also have a small incompatibility with foolcat catalogs but I will check and fix that asap in foolcat.

Requires OS X El Capitan or up... download it here :

feedback welcome (this was part of new app project but since it takes time to finish and people needed a solution for PRORES spanning on FAT32 cards I thought it would be best to release it as a free tool...)

Mikael, you are nothing short of amazing. Thank you for supplying this piece of the workflow puzzle.

Out of curiosity, would this in theory work on Yosemite? I'm always reluctant and slow to upgrade due to driver issues, and El Cap is no longer accessible. Not keen on jumping to Sierra so soon. Just wondering. I'll start digging around for an El Capitan dmg in the meanwhile.

Sorry nope as the reference clip method required some Quicktime API and features only existing in EL Capitan (AVFoundation).
I try to always support older OS versions for my apps but in this case El Capitan was the best I could do...

Hello Mikael,

thank you this is great to see and very kind of you to release for free.
will offer feedback when I get testing done.

cheers A

We have been searching for a way around the ProRes spanning issue. I am surprised there isn't much discussion about it. We are using LT files for multicam proxy editing off of Ravens. Is this link still working for Foolclip, because I can't seem to access it.

Hello William I just tried the link and it works here (no web page it should just download the zipped file to your computer)... Sorry had not much time to do a webpage or anything but hopefully it is simple enough to use :-)

let me know if you can not access it, I can send you the file by email or ftp

That's a terrific idea for a utility, Mikael.

Wow Mika. I just received my Raven.I'd say that Foolcontrol, that I bought time ago with the GB, impress me more than the camera itself!!
Great congrats.
Now, were do I update the app?

:-)

this thread is about a recent small free tool for spanned prores clip... if you need to update your foolcontrol app :
- iOS can be updated directly from Apple App Store on your iOS device (latest is 2.04... 2.05 is incoming soon)
- OS X, latest version can always be downloaded from my website (foolcontrol OS X link below in my signature) and just need to be replaced in your Application folder (license will be remembered and does not need to be re-entered)

best

version 1.3 released

new engine for self contained clips to work around an issue with long clips not working in Premiere, DaVinci

FCPX not affected but long references files may require the new 'remove audio' tracks option to work in those non AVFoundation apps
