  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

If I send:

#$EXT:S:FOCUS:1400:\n
Code:
23 24 47 44 52 41 47 4f 4e 3a 53 3a 46 4f 43 55 53 3a 31 34 30 30 3a 0a

I get nothing.

If I send:
#$EXT:G:FOCUS:1400:\n

I get

#$GDRAGON:C:FOCUSF:142:\n

Code:
23 24 47 44 52 41 47 4F 4E 3A 43 3A 46 4F 43 55 53 46 3A 31 34 32 3A 0A

Any idea why it's not setting focus? Do I have to set both near and far? Can I not set specific meters?

I do get:
#$GDRAGON:C:FOCSCTRL:1:\n

Also, if you are trying to do precise focus movements use HCFOCUS instead. It is unitless - so you don't know what focus you are setting, but it has much better granular support. HCFOCUS is intended for use for things like follow focus.

I just tried sending a few HCFOCUS codes and sending "10" or "30" put it to 1'3". Sending "100" sent it to inf. It's not corresponding to the 0-65365 range.

Yeah I switched over to AFMODE:0 same behavior. 0 gives me 1'3" 50 gives me infinity.

Is the hex correct that I'm sending?

Code:
23 24 45 58 54 3a 47 3a 48 43 46 4f 43 55 53 3a 33 35 30 30 30 3a 0a

That should be:
#$EXT:G:HCFOCUS:35000:\n

but I'm getting

#$GDRAGON:C:HCFOCUS:0:\n

in return. EVen if the focus is physically not-on close focus.

If I try sending a HCFOCUS with something like this:
#$GDRAGON:S:HCFOCUS:5000\n
Code:
23 24 47 44 52 41 47 4f 4e 3a 53 3a 48 43 46 4f 43 55 53 3a 35 30 30 30 0a

I get MPITCH as the first response.

Ok tried this (raw encoding as UINT16 the distance thinking that might be the problem but no dice:

23 24 45 58 54 3a 53 3a 48 43 46 4f 43 55 53 3a a4 f6 3a 0a

#$GDRAGON:S:HCFOCUS:5000\n

Your example SET string is missing the trailing colon:

#$GDRAGON:S:HCFOCUS:5000\n

This should be:

#$GDRAGON:S:HCFOCUS:5000:\n

Before using any of the HCFOCUS/IRIS/ZOOM commands you should use HCREINIT (this should calibrate the end points)

This makes me think you don't quite understand the RCP flow. you are not guaranteed to get "responses" to your SET commands before you get other packets. Everything in RCP is asynchronous. Futhermore, we don't send out CURRENTS for the HC* commands as it would overload the system if someone was using a real (or simulated) hand controller.

Your example SET string is missing the trailing colon:
Whoops. I was trying this that and the other thing and forgot to go back to step 1 before copy/pasting the RCP string. Colon didn't help though.

Before using any of the HCFOCUS/IRIS/ZOOM commands you should use HCREINIT (this should calibrate the end points)

That was the missing secret sauce!

I am having trouble with this as well

FOCSCTRL Returns 1

But FOCUS, and HCFOCUS do nothing.

I have tired setting AFMODE to 0 as well as reinitializing the lense with HCREINIT

I am able to control aperture.
