  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

First RED EPIC Photo up for Photo of the Year award

Thank you everyone for the kind words. In an effort to better share this new type of photography can we rally to pass along the link and to friends and co-workers ? Hoping to pass the 1000 vote mark.

The water housing is a custom made one. I will share photos and more info later today.

Lets get this image into first place.

Thank You

Daniel,

How do you deal with power management when out in the water. What batteries are you using? Do you have a boat just outside the action or? Also, are you only using manual focus lenses? Do you have a picture of your Epic-X with the rig you can share on the forum?

Thank you for helping with the voting. We need more votes though. I hate to sound like I am trying to sell something or be egoistic.
If you can help repost this link onto your twitter or facebook page that would be so great.

This is a working link to get you to my image. It is named John John Florence by Daniel Russo: Tahiti. go here to vote
Thank you so much

I will be posting a video of my camera set up and how this was created.

At this location we did have a boat with extra power and data management. I use the RED Bricks to power the EPIC for now and that gives me about 1-1 1/2 in the water before I have to swim back to the boat to change the battery. I cant't show the actual water housing yet as its a prototype and will be available for sale soon.

This looks more like a 16mm or 18mm on a Full Frame Still sensor not Epic 5K as far as the field of view goes...
Great picture nonetheless...

Looks a lot like a 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye on Epic 5k to me :)

With Red Bricks that must be a big "surf" housing to handle in conditions like this. I would really like to see a photo of your epic in the housing. How is the balance ? What do use for viewing and menu functions? Whats the total weight? Can you make adjustments on the fly in the water?
