My name is Daniel Russo and I am a photographer. I was waiting years like all of us for the RED EPIC X.
I am a water photographer. I swim in the ocean and document waves, surfers, and marine life.

I have a image shot by the RED EPIC X of John John Florence in Tahiti. The image is now up for photo of the year against a some other amazing images.

I have not told the magazine about what camera i shot the image. I only handed over the tiff file color corrected by me. They published the image as a double page spread.

If you have the time I would be so honored to have you help vote for this image and possibly have it be the "first EPIC image to when an award ?

Thank you so much
Daniel

If you go to surfer Magazine http://www.surfermag.com/photos/photo-of-the-year/#d086fa459c let the advertisement load or click the skip icon on the right side of the ad, you will see the image.

You can always unlike the page if you don't like it. But totally understand if you are not into surf publications, I don't blame you.

Amazing work, everyone should like this!!!! Where did you get your underwater rig? And what lens are you using? Is it the peleng fisheye?

Just saw it. Absolutely stunning picture. Voted! Did you take just one frame from a video sequence from the Epic? I imagine you have a stunning video in the works rom that shot! Incredible!

Im saving some of the work for future sharing. I really feel this will be a camera of the now for many photography industries, the price tag will not get the camera in everyones hands though. Thank you for the vote. The footage is very "mind blowing" I was able to pull many frames from the motion clip. Its all a learning curve at the moment but its so worth it.

When photographer Daniel Russo was invited to Tahiti with the Florences this past fall, he jumped at the opportunity.
“Every time John John and his brothers Ivan and Nathan ask me to go on a trip or hang out, I’m super honored,” says Russo.
“There aren’t many people I trust enough to get this close to. I mean, he’s close enough to rip my ear or my face open with a rail or a fin.
But John John is someone I trust, who knows how to hold a clean line without throwing too much water off his rail.
He seems to make every type of ocean condition look fun, from 2- to 25-foot.” Photo: Russo
