Not that I want my money back cause I want to give it a chance, but what happens to your app when you get a refund. Does it still work?
Yes, as far as I know, as I don't think the app checks against your app store account registration. But I'll have to re-buy if I want future updates or want to download it again. I really didn't want to do the refund thing, but I felt I had to in this case and really think all of those who find the lack of XML and/or EDL support inexcusable to do the same. Or to do the same if you find the lack of any other FCP7 and earlier feature to be inexcusable. I can understand not having support for R3D and other formats right now. I can understand a lot of the missing features on initial release. But if this is truly meant to be a professional editing software, they need to cover the bases and deliver the primary functionality that makes a "professional" editing software. And first and foremost is the ability to integrate that software into professional workflows.
There's a lot I do like about FCPX. There are a lot of promising aspects to it. But at this time, I feel I have to make a statement in the best way I can, to not financially support the product. Since it does not fit my needs in any capacity, whereas the now 3 year old version it has supplanted still can, although not as elegantly as what the other guys are now offering.
FCPX can't even load our current FCP7 or previous projects and there's not a statement about that what-so-ever. Just a bunch of wild-ass rumors, some claiming that's coming in a future update (like these people actually know, yeah, right) and others claiming it will never happen. WTF... Seriously. Adobe Premiere imports FCP6 and 7 projects just fine.
And to think, I though Larry Jordan was over reacting.
There have been a lot of fears in the industry that Apple is slowly abandoning the professional user base. Many of us who like Apple's business model and approach to hardware/software often find ourselves convinced that this is not the case. When Steve Jobs says that he wants Apple products and solutions to be a part of all aspects of media; from creation through delivery, we want to believe him. When Apple released this lovechild spawned by Final Cut Express and iMovie, they kicked that previous statement to the curb. They let a lot of their fans and users down with this release. Apple is one of the most amazing companies in existence, they have an unusual ability to release back-to-back successful products and resources at the wazoo. They have had 3 years since the last FCP update to work on this. Apple created the iPhone and iOS from their first inception in 2005 to a release only 26 months later. They could have built anything... Just saying.
Anyway, sorry, I'm done.
