  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Feature Request: Lower Resolution Proxies

Do you edit directly off your cards or do you back them up on two drives before beginning to edit ?

If you backup your cards, replace shotput pro or hedge or whatever with QI and you won’t notice any difference except you have the proxy types you want already.

Your loss if you’re not even looking at it because of preformed assumptions.

Did I mention it’s free right now too?

The point is that it is a whole thing compared to being able to have a lightweight option in-camera. Regardless, I'm going to download the software and give it a try :)

What I do at times: On set, straight from the card while a huge crew is standing around waiting... Backups will be done later. Checksums I could not care less about in such situation. And pre processing the files before doing the on set test comps, nope that would not ever happen.

720 prores proxy would be god sent in such situation.

Let's keep this thread active and hopefully it's something they'd be interesting in implementing.

This is the hardware solution which is related to but not a requirement for QI

Worth watching , if nothing else but as an interesting point of reference on what is happening on the true bleeding edge, and much less risky for a fast comp than editing directly off a card with raw media that could be easily corrupted accidentally.

QI is great but if I remember correctly it's limited to CUDA enabled GPUs for R3D proxies generation so no joy for AMD GPU Macs...

or is it now OpenCL capable?
