Hey guys,
I have been waiting and thinking that this would make it into a build soon but have not seen it so hear goes:

curve_rgb.jpg

can we get a curve visual in the red cam? it's just that I know what I want
my curve to look like visually and find it hard to set it with just points and numbers..if I could just see the curve shape it would be such a big help

Still totally loving our R1.

If this is not the correct place for "feature request" let me know what to do.

I've never done it, but.... can't you set a curve in RedAlert and export it as a look? Or are RedAlert looks still not compatible with the camera? Assuming it works, while not a pretty, elegant solution, but it should let you define the curve you want.

Sure a curve can be handy but once you understand the basic math of the points it is very easy to set without a curve (or use redalert as a guide if needed).

Just like your example screenshot you have a grid with 5 points
Each point has 2 values x (horiz aka input) y (vert aka output)

Black (bottom left) - with x,y default values of 0, 0 - 99.99% of the time leave this value to its nice default unless you want to reduce your overall latitude

Toe - 25, 25 - correspond to the point you've set at the bottom of your S curve example. will darken or lighten your dark values. You've set it to 26, 20 or so, so will darken a bit the midtone darks. Adjust at will

Center - 50, 50 - you haven't set a point for this one but it got moved abit by setting the 2 others to around 50, 48 in your example

Knee - 75, 75 - you've set this point controling light values to 76, 80 or so. It will lighten a bit your image near the highlights

White - 100, 100 - leave untouched like black value.

Maybe it is just me (with a curve plug-in embeded in my brain) but seems pretty easy to set without any other visual help or maybe just a pen and a paper... Just draw a 4x4 square grid like your screenshot for your five starting point values 0,25,50,75,100

Been a while since I wanted to upload a few nice preset S curves or tonal Fx for the red one as .RKL file for everyone. Will try to do that this week...

HTH while we wait for a nice in camera curve like they did for the custom framing guides.

can't you set a curve in RedAlert and export it as a look?

You can't export it to the camera in a LOOK file, but you can create a curve in RED Alert! and put those numbers manually into the camera.

Good to know. I'll use that would still be great to have a visual
aid though.
