  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Facebook...

I'm Aspartame free... a good thing. And there is also something coming after Facebook.

Jim

Oh, Jim. Thanks for the head up about Aspartame.
I've quitted smoke almost a year ago now, and now I'm find myself replacing cigarettes with Social Networks and chewing gum.... What a mess. :-)

Jim, I'm glad to hear that!

It would be great to have some info on Facebook side affects ... now one of the bigger ones could become "money loss" ... hehehe ;)

Oh, no. No turn back

I would have smoked an extra 7,309 if I did not quit smoking. And since then I've saved more than 2.000 €.

Bye Aspartame, welcome Twitter...
:-)

I will LOVE if someone would create a specialized Social Network for cinematographers, btw...

While there's something not so nice in this, the truth is Facebook also helped people to organize, share and develop ideas as well as create movements that actually changed the world. I don't know I that was good or bad, manipulation can easily take place in Facebook, but it is undeniably something that changed our world. Just like Red changed ours (filmmaking).

Fishing usually needs a bait.

Just wrapped a shoot at 2:30 AM and I find a Zinger of Truth from Jim. Facebook may have its place, but it scares me. I can't trust anything that is so big...

"In another exchange leaked to Silicon Alley Insider, Zuckerberg explained to a friend that his control of Facebook gave him access to any information he wanted on any Harvard student:

ZUCK: yea so if you ever need info about anyone at harvard
ZUCK: just ask
ZUCK: i have over 4000 emails, pictures, addresses, sns
FRIEND: what!? how’d you manage that one?
ZUCK: people just submitted it
ZUCK: i don’t know why
ZUCK: they “trust me”
ZUCK: dumb fucks "

I wish I was making the above up but that was taken from an actual IM conversation Zuckerberg had with a friend back in 2004.
The link to the New Yorker article this is from is below the quote. That conversation is reported on page 3 of the story.
Jim Jannard is on the mark with this.
I would stay away from FB like Aspartame too.

Hope this thread stays alive though.

I was shooting a piece this week in a school district that allows PDAs , phones etc, on their own network. Out of the 60,000 students, apparently virtually none of them use Facebook, only twitter. I give it 4 years.
