We JUST got back, so footage will be a few weeks before we post, but these BTS shots are pretty cool. Nice one Jarred. Can't wait to use the 40mm.

Cheers thrill seekers.

Are the focus and iris motors so good that it's very different from the original canon one? I can't see any advantage right now.

The advantage is it's more cool looking and theoretically tougher, even mostly waterproof... And it looks cool, did I mention that?

Does anyone know if Canon 40mm will be offered?

They have a prototype floating around the hands of Ninja. I image available soonish.

Phil - sorry to jack this thread for a moment, but we just received our GDU lens, but it will not auto focus with either our motion mount or our Red Canon mount. Any thoughts on this?

really? i just got mine and cant test it until i have the raven in my hands.

Where's RedWoods, CA?

were you close to Muir Woods?

How can you be lighter than this one? Isn't it based on this optic?

The primary difference and essentially what GDU is doing with these lenses is that when your drone crashes, your lens survives.

Ok... I must be missing somthing here... :leaving:

On the product page, which I linked to on the first page of replies:

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

THE LENS BUILT TO TAKE A BEATING
The heart of the GDU 24mm is a Canon 24mm F2.8 optical block stripped down to its core and then built back up with an armored precision machined mil spec 7075 Aluminum housing.

The manual focus ring has been completely removed to avoid accidental focus adjustments and all movement is regulated to it’s internal STM motors for remote focus and iris control.

An electronic Stainless Steel Canon EF mount finishes off the rear and out front the GDU 24mm Includes a 37mm protective UV filter inset within a a 46mm non-threaded protective ridge.

Are there any plans for a wider GDU lens? A 16mm perhaps? That 1.87 Raven crop is quite something!
